Joey King just landed a new role! The actress, who recently starred as the leading lady in Netflix’s hit The Kissing Booth, is now starring in another original series on a streaming platform – Hulu! Joey will star in The Act, Hulu’s true-crime anthology series.

Deadline reports The Universal Cable Productions show, writen by Nick Antosca and Michelle Dean, tells strange, captivating true crime stories. Season One is based off of writer Michelle Dean’s 2016 Buzzfeed article about a startling mother-daughter story. Joey will be playing the character, Gypsy Blanchard, a girl attempting to escape the toxic relationship she has with her super overprotective mom, Dee Dee – played by Patricia Arquette. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, Joey’s character is very upbeat and gracious. Gypsy’s desire for independence leads to whole bunch of secrets. Just a heads up here – if you’re looking for a light-hearted show, be aware – this one involves murder.

That’s not all that Joey has in store. She also just sold an original supernatural-based romance film pitch that’s in the works, The In Between. Best part? She’s both starting in it and producing it. What can’t this girl do?

Joey might be one of the hottest teen stars in Hollywood right now, but let us not forget that she’s been around for quite some time. The 19-year-old actress as quite a resume, having her very first role in a 2006 episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Yeah – a pretty epic start, if you ask us. And of course, we could never forget when she starred alongside Selena Gomez in Ramona and Beezus.

We can’t wait to see her new series!
