Do we sense some jealousy here? Shawn Mendes was just crowned the “Prince of Pop” by Observer Magazine, and it appears that Justin Bieber was not happy about it. He just left a super shady comment on Shawn’s Instagram account — claiming that the singer wasn’t deserving of the award, and that the title belonged to him instead. Yikes!
“Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there bud,” he wrote.
Wow… THE SHADE. Since Justin and Shawn are both super talented, both have amazing voices and both write gorgeous lyrics, we feel like they both deserve the title, TBH.
But the “Love Yourself” crooner offered another alternative to decide who should hold the title of “Prince of Pop” — play ice hockey for it! Um, what? Although that doesn’t have anything to do with their music, fans know that both singers are pretty big supporters of the sport. Wow, how intense would a match between them be?
“But if you want we can play hockey for it I heard you’re a real bender on the ice,” the 25-year-old added.
But don’t worry guys, Justin’s comment was all in good fun!
“LOL any time any day,” Shawn responded. “You just let me know!”
It’s clear from Shawn’s response that Justin was just joking around with the “In My Blood” singer. But in case anyone was confused, he left another comment, clearing things up once and for all.
“There is no competition and it was a playful joke relax people,” he added. “There’s no sides we’re all just here to make dope music. I’m just competitive as is he so it was just a little playful jargon.”
Phew. Justin and Shawn actually have a pretty interesting relationship. And that’s because there were tons of rumors that the 20-year-old used to date Justin’s wife, Hailey Baldwin!
But there’s clearly no hard feelings between the two pop stars because just last month Shawn hit the like button one of Justin’s pics. And the best part? It was actually a pic of Hailey! Not to mention that in October of 2018, the Canadian cutie said he wanted to sing at Justin and Hailey’s wedding. We are honestly so here for this friendship.
