Directioners were crossing their fingers for a One Direction reunion earlier in the week when news broke that all four boys – Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles – would all lend their voices for the Grenfell Tower fire charity single. But, it didn’t happen and they have broken the hearts of girls around the world.

The charity single was spearheaded by Simon Cowell who felt he needed to do something after he saw the Grenfell Tower in London engulfed in flames. Many people lost their lives as well as were injured. Not only that but the building is completely inhabitable meaning hundreds lost their homes. It’s an incredibly tragic event and Simon used his connections and music to help.

The Simon & Garfunkel hit, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was chosen as the single and over 50 artists lent their voices to the track. It’s beautiful. Liam and Louis were among those artists. Of course, Niall and Harry have super busy schedules and most likely wanted to help out but probably couldn’t work it out on such short notice.

It’s important to note that even if all four boys were going to be on the song, they were reportedly not going to sing together but as solo artists.

Louis tweeted, “Great day today. Really excited to be involved !”

He also said, “Please give all you can to help!https://artistsforgrenfell.com/ .”

Simon was very appreciative as well writing, “Thank you to everyone for their help and support in making this happen.”

It’s amazing to see musicians coming together for such a great cause. We’ve seen a lot of this lately including the One Love Manchester concert that Ariana Grande held after 22 fans were killed at her concert after a suicide bomber set off an explosion as people were leaving her performance.

Even though we didn’t get to hear all four boys together again, fans must be patient. That time will come. Until then, this charity single for the fire victims is leading the world in the right direction.
