Say hello to a new actor on Riverdale. It was announced that Mark Consuelos – who plays Hiram Lodge in The CW series – is welcoming his real-life son Michael Consuelos to the Riverdale fam. Season 3 is in the works, and there’s been a lot of talk about the flashback episode that they have in store. You see, the upcoming episode “The Midnight Club” will go back in time and show the parents in flashbacks. Aside from Michael playing Hiram, it’s been confirmed that KJ Apa will play his on-screen dad Fred Andrews, Lili Reinhart will play the young Alice Cooper, and Cole Sprouse will play the young FP Jones. KJ opened up about having Michael on set.

“That kid looks so much like his dad, and sounds like so much like his dad, there were so many times I thought [Mark] was on set, but I looked over and it was Michael,” KJ told ET Online. “He killed it. It was great.”

Aside from occasionally appearing on his mother Kelly Ripa’s talk show Live! with Kelly, Michael also lent his voice to characters on Duck Dodgers and Go, Diego! Go! In fact, this won’t even be his first time working with his father. He starred in a short comedy The Bensonhurst Spelling Bee with his dad in 2012.

Mark and Kelly took to Instagram to share the news with fans and express how proud they are of their son. “Bucket list moment for Mom and Dad. Congrats to my son Michael on being cast as the younger (and much better and handsomer) Hiram.. We are so proud,” Mark wrote.

Kelly shared on Instagram, “Congrats Michael on being cast as young Hiram Lodge on @thecwriverdale however @instasuelos and i would like to take this opportunity to remind you and your siblings that as your fiduciaries we are hereby entitled to 10% of all future earnings hereto wit, or something like that.”

We’re so pumped to see Mark’s IRL son play his on-screen self!
