Riverdale fans, brace yourselves. The CW series, which is honestly more like a lifestyle than just a show, has a spin-off in the works. Yep, you heard us correctly. This is basically all of our dreams coming true, and we're hearing it right from the mouths of the people responsible for Riverdale.
The exciting news was revealed yesterday at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour panel by The CW president Mark Pedowitz, who said that Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has some plans.
He said, "In terms of spin-offs out of Riverdale, I'm waiting to hear what Roberto has in mind. He has something in mind."
You see, everyone thought Riverdale was going to have a spin-off when Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa created the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for The CW. But then, the show got picked up by Netflix instead – it premieres on Oct. 26, btw! So while Sabrina and Riverdale are set in the same Archie Comics universe, there is no cross connection between the shows after all. And now that they are on completely different networks anyway, we think it is safe to say we can all probably wave that possibility goodbye. However, now that another spin-off is in the works, it's possible a crossover can totally happen in the future! Oh sorry, did you hear that? Yeah, those are our fangirling sequeals of joy.
Roberto confirmed, "We're really excited but we're still early on in the process. It will be very different from Riverdale."
As for what it will be about, it doesn't even look like the creator himself is too sure yet. So we will all just have to wait and find out! Now, bring it in Riverdale fam. This calls for a group hug.
