Mom shamers beware, because Shay Mitchell is not afraid to clap back! On Tuesday, October 29 the Pretty Little Liars star posted to Instagram Stories addressing backlash she received from social media users after she attended Drake‘s 33rd birthday party with boyfriend, Matte Babel on October 23 — days after giving birth to her daughter.
Responding to the hate, the actress posted a video of herself scrolling through the comments left on her Instagram posts. Shay could be heard in the background explaining to the critics that just because she publicly shared her birth news on October 20, 2019, doesn’t mean that’s actually the date when her baby was born.
“I haven’t been really checking my comments that often, but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party. It wasn’t three days and I left her with [my dog] Angel,” she replied.

For those who missed it, the 32-year-old took to Instagram this past June announcing that, after suffering a miscarriage in 2018, she was expecting her first child with boyfriend and TV host Matte. From the baby’s gender reveal to the baby shower and everything in between, Shay kept fans updated throughout the entire pregnancy on her weekly YouTube series Almost Ready. She even shared the whole birth video with her followers earlier this month!
Fans even showed their support for the star by coming to her defense and responding to the negative comments.
“Why do people think that new mothers can’t go out. Having a new born is a big ordeal and most mothers without a nanny or a housekeeper are sleep deprived…We can all use a little break. I couldn’t wait to get a break just to shower or take a cat nap lol; let alone have a night out with my hubby,” a fan commented on Instagram.
