Taylor Swift‘s highly anticipated sixth studio album Reputation is finally here and for Swifties who have been waiting years for this new era of music, it lives to every expectations. 15 brand new tracks are now in our lives and although the full tracklist ended up leaking early which is always a bummer, fans are nothing but obsessed with every song. And if you’ve listened to the album in full yet then you know why everyone has it on repeat.

We, of course, had to give you a breakdown of each song in case you want to know the full story behind them since you know Taylor is a master musical storyteller. In fact, during her performance at SiriusXM, she revealed that the album really does tell a story about her life in the order the songs are played.

Reputation, in my mind, is an album that is very linear in its timeline, meaning that it starts out kind of where I first was when I first started making the record. The album ends more with where I am now in my life,” she said. By the end of the album, these love songs are beyond adorable so safe to say girl is nothing but happy with her current bae, Joe Alwyn and it’s precious. Check out our analysis of each song on Reputation:

1. “…Ready for It?”

So this is one song we already heard pre-album release and it’s a straight-up jam. It has an intense beat and tells a story of basically how the guy should get ready for the type of love he’s about to experience in a relationship with a girl who doesn’t play around and he’ll prob become head-over-heels in love with. Standout lyrics: “Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted/But if he’s a ghost, then I can be a phantom.”

2. “End Game (featuring Ed Sheeran and Future)”

Expectation: OK, finally another Ed and Taylor song?! Already can’t handle it. Then you go and add Future in there? NEXT LEVEL. Usually, when someone says end game, it’s referring to a couple that is basically going to be together forever. Typically, the phrase comes up when you’re talking about ships from movies and TV shows, so this will be interesting for sure. Maybe it could be about doing something that’s “ending the game” so to speak, so one final move that ends all in a long-standing rivalry perhaps. So many layers here.

Reality: We weren’t too far off the mark with our predictions, since it’s all about wanting to be someone’s “end game,” their one and only. despite how you and this other person might just so happen to have some big reputations attached to you.

Standout lyric: “And I can’t let you go, your hand prints on my soul.”

3. “I Did Something Bad”

Expectation: Huh, so what did Taylor do?! Well, obviously we don’t know what she’s referring to yet but what’s interesting is that she’s only ever written one apology song to an ex-boyfriend (Hello “Back to December” written about Taylor Lautner so perhaps she’s going back to these roots. Maybe she’s going to fess up to something she did that hurt someone else in the process.

Reality: Taylor is fully aware she did something bad, but nope she isn’t sorry. She loved every minute of it and would do it again. Basically, Taylor was dating a guy who was a narcissistic player who she ends up leaving and well he didn’t treat her right, so that’s why she doesn’t feel sorry about it. Could this be about her relationship with Calvin Harris? Could be, or could not, we’ll just leave that up to you to decide.

Standout lyrics: “They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one/They got their pitchforks and proof, their receipts and reasons/They’re burning all the witches, even if you aren’t one/So light me up “

4. “Don’t Blame Me”

Expectation: It’s kind of amazing this is coming right after a song called “I Did Something Bad,” since whatever it is she’s talking about, she’s not taking responsibility for. The demise of a relationship perhaps? Or the reason why she basically disappeared from the public eye for months leaving fans to wonder what she was up to?

Reality: So we weren’t too off the mark here. Tay is literally saying you can’t blame her for going a little crazy because love her made that way and that’s how you know it’s a true, remarkable, memorable love right there. She can’t be held accountable for her actions when she’s under the spell that is love and hey, pretty sure the concept of love making someone crazy is one everyone can relate to.

Standout lyrics: “Halo, hiding my obsession/I once was poison ivy, but now I’m your daisy”

5. “Delicate”

Expectation: Maybe this track could be about Taylor herself and how she really feels. Girl has come under a lot of fire for basically everything she does and while people are constantly throwing their opinions out about her, maybe they should stop and think, hey she’s human too every once and a while. Just a thought.

Reality: We pretty much missed the mark on this one based on the title. It’s all about Taylor meeting a guy and totally falling for him, telling him just how much he means to her. She’s being purely honest with him about her feelings which can be a delicate subject, but hey, she’s all in.

Standout lyric: “My reputation’s never been worse, so you must like me for me”

6. “Look What You Made Me Do”

The first single from the album did not disappoint. It’s basically the answer to what Taylor has been doing since she stepped away from the public eye and dealt with the backlash of the infamous Kimye Snapchat video. She’s been working hard creating a fire new album, that’s what Taylor’s been doing.

Standout lyric: “Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time.”

7. “So It Goes…”

Expectation: OK, so this one feels like it can be a super romantic love song. As you might know, she has a song on her last album 1989 called “You’re In Love” and in that song are the lyrics, “and so it goes you two are dancing in a snow globe round and round.” This song is simply beautiful and it’s about her good friends Lena Dunham and Jack Aontoff’s relationship and how they’re basically #CoupleGoals. So maybe this is a sequel to that lovely tune.

Reality: This feels like a new era in a way, not just musically but in Taylor’s life. She is unapologetically living her best life and you can tell she’s a woman in love. This is another jam of a love song and she’s #sorrynotsorry she wants us all to know what’s going on in her heart.

Standout lyrics: “You make everyone disappear, and/Cut me into pieces/Gold cage, hostage to my feelings”

8. “Gorgeous”

This song is seriously just #relatable. It’s basically about Taylor meeting a guy who is literally just so good-looking and charming, it’s kind of distracting and making her want to hang out with him instead of her boyfriend she barely even sees anymore.

Standout lyric: “You should think about the consequence/Of your magnetic field being a little too strong.”

9. “Getaway Car”

Expectation: Taylor and her current love Joe have mastered the whole keeping their relationship super quiet and out of the spotlight so maybe this song will give us some insight as to why Tay wanted things to be this way and what it’s like having to hide out all the time when you’re simply happy.

Reality: OK, so this song we’re thinking is about that time in her life when she transitioned from her relationship with Calvin to her whirlwind romance with Tom Hiddleston. It’s all about how she met a guy when she was literally in a getaway car, fleeing from her former love into this new adventure. By the end of the song though, she’s left this guy in the dust too, something he shouldn’t really be all that surprised about based on how they first met. It’s Taylor storytelling at its finest: she takes something so personal and creates a narrative that anyone can relate to and this song is proof of that.

Standout lyrics: “It was the best of times, the worst of crimes/I struck a match and blew your mind/But I didn’t mean it/And you didn’t see it”

10. “King of My Heart”

Expectation: Now, if this is a love song, that title is nothing short of epic and prove girl is totally, completely, madly in love. It could also be about someone she used to date that maybe she was feeling at the time, so we’ll have to listen for clues it’s about Joe. And hey, let’s go out on a limb and say maybe it’s a song about her dad. She did write “The Best Day” for her mom, so maybe it’s time Scott got a song of his own.

Reality: This was yet another ode to the new love in her life and how happy he makes her. He’s the king of her heart and she’s the queen of his and if this song doesn’t get you up and dancing, we don’t know what will!

Standout lyrics: “Is the end of all the endings?/My broken bones are mending”

11. “Dancing With Our Hands Tied”

Expectation: This could be another reference to how Taylor has been living her life more low-key since anytime she’s spotted out and about, the world seems to have so many opinions on her and what she’s up to. So she’s happy, “dancing” but her hands are tied, meaning she isn’t fully free.

Reality: We weren’t too far off with this one. Basically, Taylor wasn’t even sure her current love would last. She already had doubts and was worried about all the outside factors that come with loving her but all is well despite her initial hesitations.

Standout lyrics: “I’m a mess, but I’m the mess that you wanted/Oh, ’cause it’s gravity/Oh, keeping you with me”

12. “Dress”

Expectation: A wedding dress?! That’s what comes to mind first and we know Taylor loves giving us fairy-tale, happy ending type songs circa “Love Story” era. Or maybe there’s one dress she has that takes her back to a very specific memory, like in her debut single ever, “Tim McGraw” and that little black dress.

Reality: She bought a dress with one person and mind she hopes he likes it. Dresses seem to always find a way into her songs and this one is all about how she can’t wait to see that one special person in her life and let him know she’s his.

Standout lyrics: “Even in my worst times, you could see the best of me/Flashback to my mistakes/My rebounds, my earthquakes/Even in my worst lies, you saw the truth in me”

13. “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”

Expectation: The “we” is interesting here, is this a call-out to her fans? She treats her fans like actual friends so maybe she’s looking back on all she and her fans have been through together and why sometimes it feels like they simply can’t ever be happy. Like when she won Album of the Year at the Grammys for 1989 and plenty of people have opinions on that. Or maybe this is about her relationships with Calvin or Tom Hiddleston. Both were very public with how they started and ended, so maybe these experiences in a high-profile romance inspired this tune.

Reality: The song everyone was waiting for. It’s basically “Bad Blood 2.0” and calls out all those who wronged her this last year and she thought were friends but ended up not being bery nice to her. Her cackle on this track is ICONIC.

Standout lyrics: “There I was giving you a second chance/But then you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand/And therein lies the issue/Friends don’t try to trick you/Get you on the phone and mind-twist you/And so I took an axe to a mended fence”

14. “Call It What You Want”

Another song we’ve already heard that is rather romantic. It’s about how Taylor has been dealing with tons of drama and turmoil in her life, there is one decision she 100% knows she made right and that was dating Joe. ADORABLE. Standout lyrics: “All my flowers grew back as thorns/Windows boarded up after the storm/He built a fire just to keep me warm.”

15. “New Year’s Day”

Expectation: Now, Taylor has been known to host some fun NYE parties, at least from the looks of pics on Instagram we’ve all seen. But there is a chance this could be a Haylor shout-out too. Yes, as in her relationship with Harry Styles. It has been widely speculated these two broke up during New Year’s of 2013 when they were on an island vacation together and as we know, Taylor came back from the trip by herself. That pic of her chilling on a boat alone gets us every time. So maybe this song is from that time in her life and we’re going to get more details about what went down that New Year’s Day.

Reality: This song is truly beautiful and one of Taylor’s all-time best lyrically. It’s all about how you want to be with someone that makes cleaning up on New Year’s Day after the party ends well, fun and worth it. You don’t mind having to clean up a messy NYE party after all the fun fades with their person because they’re YOUR person, your one true love. This is 100% a reflection of Tay’s mindset now that she’s got her bae Joe and knowing she’s so happy is just the sweetest.

Standout lyrics: “Hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you/And I will hold on to you/Please don’t ever become a stranger/Whose laugh I could recognize anywhere”
