Ever since they starred in Harry Potter together, there has been speculation that Tom Felton and Emma Watson were in a secret relationship. Now, the 32-year-old is adding fuel to the fire! The actor just spoke about his former costar to Daily Mail, and he could not stop gushing over her.
“She’s an incredibly smart and lovely young lady,” he told the outlet.
But unfortunately, Emma confirmed that she was single during a recent interview with British Vogue.
“I’m very happy [being single],” she admitted. “I call it being self-partnered.”
Get this — Tom revealed that he also considers himself “self-partnered.”
“I like [the term self-partnered]! It’s the first I’ve heard of it, but it’s great. I’m in the same category to be honest with you, quite happily self-partnered,” he added. “I think in this day and age it’s not a necessity to be with someone just for the sake of being with someone, so I like the idea of self-partnering. I think you need to love yourself before you can love anyone else, so that’s a start.”
OK, sorry #Tomma shippers, it looks like these two are just friends after all. As fans know, despite more than eight years passing since the final Harry Potter movie hit theaters, the stars have stayed pretty close. They’ve hung out numerous times over the years, and every time they do, it gives HP fans a major wave of nostalgia.
“It’s always nice to bump into her, see her at the beach, or over dinner, or whatever,” the Planet of the Apes star continued. “It’s always nice to bump into each other and slightly reminisce about old times but also about looking forward to the future.”
For those who forgot, Tom and Emma sent the internet into a frenzy when they jetted off to South Africa together back in August. The pair shared a snap from the trip, and everyone was pretty excited to see them together again.
“Quick learner,” Tom captioned the sweet photo, which showed him teaching his former costar how to play guitar.
Back in February, the 29-year-old actress shared a picture of herself and tagged Tom as the photographer.
“Friends capture you best,” she wrote.
