Growing up definitely has a ton of perks. We mean, no school, marriage and most importantly, a lot more freedom, right? But it also unfortunately comes with a ton of responsibilities, and that can be pretty scary at times — even for your favorite celebrities. Take Vanessa Hudgens, for example. The High School Musical actress just revealed that she became so overwhelmed with the responsibilities of growing up that she had a total midlife crisis when she was 27 years old.

“I remember waking up at 27 and that was the first moment where I was like, ‘Oh. I am not a kid. I’m not a teenager. I’m an adult and I have responsibilities,’” she told People Magazine. “I felt like I had no idea who I was or what I wanted or what I was going after.”

But instead of crumbling, the brunette beauty revealed that she used her hardships as a learning lesson.

“I’m very grateful for it because then it forced me to reassess who I am and what I believe in, therefore giving me just a better understanding of myself,” she continued. “Now that I’ve reached 30, it’s so nice feeling free to just speak your mind.”

Wow, we are seriously so proud of her! And Vanessa is feeling a lot more confident now.

“I feel very empowered and very scared because I know there are big things ahead of me. I feel like I’m grounded, I’ve gotten rid of my baggage, so to speak, and have made way for myself to go into my 30s just a bit more streamlined, leading with love and light,” she told Haute Living back in January. “[Right now I’m doing a lot of] self-reflection, cleaning up in all different areas of my life and getting myself to a place where I feel very confident in all the decisions I’m making, and that they’re aligned with who I am. There’s something empowering about pushing through something extremely uncomfortable and surviving it.”

You know what they say — what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!
