The hottest celebs in music all gathered last night for the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, and it was definitely a night to remember. Between all the standout red carpet looks and knockout performances like Shawn Mendes‘ wet t-shirt rendition of “In My Blood” – it was seriously an iconic show. However, what awards show doesn’t have some awkward moments sprinkled in? Aside from legit no one pronouncing Camila Cabello‘s name correctly (we’re lookin’ at you Tiffany Haddish and Madonna), you bet there were even more incidents shown on TV that made us all cringe. And we’re listing all the most awkward ones.

From Shawn’s awkward J. Lo introduction to the Fifth Harmony shade that was thrown in reference to Camila Cabello, things got pretty weird. There was even an unexpected makeout session on stage that made jaws drop. Shawn Mendes had the honor of introducing Jennifer Lopez’s Vanguard award, but something was up with the audio – which made for a really uncomfy few minutes. You could literally hear everyone in the audience chatting, which totally made it look like no one was paying any attention. Yikes!

Maluma vmas kiss

During Maluma’s performance, his dancer planted a kiss on him – and it didn’t look like it was a part of the plan. As they were locking lips, another one of the dancers tried pulling Maluma’s face away. It was as cringe as it gets.

Tiffany haddish vmas

Tiffany Haddish totally shaded Fifth Harmony when she was presenting the award for Best Hip Hop Video with Kevin Hart.
“Camila Cabello is nominated for five VMAs tonight. I’m super proud of her,” Tiffany said, “So those of you watching at home, hi Fifth Harmony.”

Then, when Nicki Minaj was on stage accepting her award for Best Hip Hop Video moments later, she totally clapped back at Tiffany, sticking up for the other 5H girls. She said, “Tiff, don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony because Normani is that b—h.”
While Normani wasn’t at the event, she liked and replied to a bunch of fan tweets praising Nicki for sticking up for their girl.

Cardi B started off the show having us all thinking we were about to see her lil bb Kulture, but turns out, it was just a VMA trophy.

Backstreet boys vmas

The Backstreet Boys are icons, but their little a cappella portion of the night was slightly awk. They basically just sang a few lines of a bunch of radio hits of today – and unfortunately, everyone was v underwhelmed about it. Think we could’ve done without that part.
