When you’re a huge fan of someone, it’s only natural to want to know everything about them, right? We especially love learning about our fave’s childhoods. We mean, the way you grew up definitely has a big impact on the person you become, so we love when celebrities share details from before they were famous. And that’s why we decided to investigate the Dolan Twins‘ hometown!

Where are the Dolan Twins from?

So, it turns out, Ethan and Grayson Dolan spent their childhood in Long Valley, NJ. The small town is actually located within Washington Township, in Morris County, NJ. Now, for those of you that aren’t from the state, you may be thinking: Where the heck is that? Well, the small town is about an hour and 15 minute drive from New York City! The town is 4.623 square miles, and has a population of 1,879 people.

What is Long Valley like?

In the grand scheme of things, Long Valley is actually pretty small. To help with some comparison, Los Angeles is 502.76 square miles and has a population of 3,792,621 people. Wow!

The boys described their hometown in a YouTube video back in 2015. “We’re from a country town called Long Valley,” Ethan explained. “There’s a bunch of cows, barns and everything around us. It’s so country that if I wanted to go get eggs, I could just walk down the street to our local farm and get them. There’s not much to do there. Pretty much the only thing we did for fun is film videos.”

When did the Dolan Twins move to LA?

Fans of the boys know that they first started making videos while they were still living in New Jersey back in 2013. And after their popularity grew, they were signed by Brian Robert, the owner of AwesomenessTV in September 2015. And that’s when the boys decided to pack up their things and head to Los Angeles.

“I’m moving to LA and I’m really happy,” Grayson shared on Twitter at the time.

Do they still visit Long Valley?

But don’t worry, the YouTubers still spend a ton of time in Long Valley. In 2017, they actually uploaded a video called “Life Back Home” where they returned to their family’s house to show fans what they liked to do before they became famous. The guys leapt off hay bales, rode ATVs through cornfields, swam in lakes and even bonded with the local farm life. It seriously looked like an awesome place to grow up, if you ask us.

And most recently, the twins headed back home to mourn the unfortunate death of their father, Sean Dolan. As J-14 readers know, after a long battle with cancer, their dad passed away on January 19, 2019.

“I can’t believe that today actually real. It doesn’t make sense. Ethan and I are going to be taking some time off and spending it with our family. I love you guys so much thank you so much for everything. I’ll be back soon,” Grayson shared on Twitter.

“Life feels like a nightmare. Taking some time off to be with our family. I love you so much Dad. I’ll see you guys soon,” Ethan wrote.

Well, no matter what coast the Dolan Twins are on, it’s safe to say their New Jersey home will always hold a special place in their hearts.
