Zayn Malik allegedly shaded his One Direction days in his song “Good Years,” and it was pretty upsetting, TBH. Now, the singer has released another new track from his upcoming album, but this time, he added some major messages to his girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. Except don’t worry guys, there’s no shade in this one! The new song, titled “There You Are,” is actually an adorable love song, and we’ve gone ahead and uncovered all the references he threw in for his model girlfriend.

“Only you know me / The way you know me / Only you forgive me / When I’m sorry.”

As J-14 readers know, Gigi and Zayn first started dating back in November 2015. But after almost three years together, the couple briefly split up last March.

“Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and friend,” Zayn wrote in a statement at the time. “She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time.”

This line of the song might be referring to their short breakup, since a few weeks later, the couple was spotted kissing in New York City again. And since then, they’ve been going strong.

“Need you when I’m broken / When I’m fixed / Need you when I’m well / When I’m sick.”

Zayn has been pretty open about his struggles with anxiety and mental health issues, and this line of the song might be a reference to how Gigi has continuously supported her man through them.

“I’ve seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans. Your bravery in those times makes me proud,” the 23-year-old wrote to Zayn after he had to cancel a show due to his anxiety. “But your honesty last night proved what you’re all about, being real… Your talent and good heart will never lead you wrong. Love you and so proud of you always.”

Zayn even revealed to GQ Magazine that the model has not only helped him get through the hard times, but she’s also changed his whole perspective.

“I had a very negative outlook on things,” he told the outlet. “She’s helped me to look at things from a positive angle.”

“Friends that I rely on / Don’t come through / They run like the river / But not you.”

This might be referring to when the singer revealed that he left One Direction with zero friends (ouch!). But Zayn and Gigi have admitted that they consider each other their best friends and it’s super sweet!

“For the first time, we are both in a relationship where we have similar interests outside of work, and that is really important,” Gigi gushed to ES Magazine. “We cook a lot together and do art together, and we’re each other’s best friends. We both feel we can talk about anything and learn a lot from each other.”

“Need you when I’m hot / When I’m cold / Need you when I’m young / When I’m old / You won’t be far.”

After they split back in March, Zayn revealed to Ryan Seacrest that he thought he’d be growing old with the model, so this line could definitely be about Gigi.

“I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life and the rest of theirs, as we all do,” he shared about the breakup. Ugh, they’re honestly relationship goals!

“When you’re caught in the crowds / When you’re up in the clouds / There you are.”

Since Gigi is a super famous model, this line could definitely be a major clue that the song is about her. The 25-year-old refers to his girl being caught in the crowds — which might be a reference to the fans and paparazzi that continuously follow Gigi around. As for being up in the clouds, G is constantly taking plane rides and traveling for work so she’s literally up in the sky. But even with her busy schedule, Zayn recently revealed to Billboard that they find a way to make it work and it’s not as hard as you’d think.

“It’s actually not that hard for us [to line up schedules],” he explained. “It helps that she’s really organized. Thank God! Because I’m really not, so she helps organize my schedule around seeing her.”

So, after analyzing the numerous clues, we’ve come to the conclusion that “There You Are” is indeed about Gigi. Goals all around.
