You guys are not going to believe this, but it’s officially been more than 15 years Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide started! The iconic Nickelodeon series aired its first on September 12, 2004, and we cannot believe how fast time has flown by!
We mean, it seriously feels like just yesterday that we were watching Ned, Moze and Cookie take on the daily struggles of school, homework, tests, relationships, drama and everything else that comes with being a teenager. And there’s not a day that goes by that we don’t miss it, TBH.
It wasn’t only fans who missed the show though, with Devon Werkheiser recently taking to TikTok to share tips on surviving adulthood.
In May 2021, the actor posted a video discussing his attempt to get a reboot for Ned’s Declassified off the ground.
“For the last two years of my life, bringing the Ned’s Declassified Adulthood Survival Guide reboot to life has been a huge goal of mine,” he explained in the clip.
Devon set the scene, detailing the plot idea that he had for the show after all these years.
“Imagine Ned, Moze, and Cookie getting out of college, struggling through their twenties, bringing you tips on taxes, online dating, self-care, roommates, budgeting, all of it!” he shared. “I wanted it for you, and I wanted it for me, and I thought it would be amazing to make a self-help sitcom for a generation that could use a friend.”
Devon revealed that this was actually an idea that was in the works for a while, but it didn’t work out when the team took it to Nickelodeon.
“Cookie and Moze were on board, the original creators and producers, Scott and Michelle Fellows, were on board, but we don’t own the rights to Ned’s Declassified,” he noted at the time. “So, we pitched it to Nickelodeon and Awesomeness TV, who do own the rights to it, and they passed on it and won’t let us take it to sell it somewhere else.”
Although the reboot isn’t in the works at the moment, Devon captioned the video, “I still think we can make it happen. Who’s down?”
“So, for now, the reboot’s dead and I’m really sad and thanks for being fans,” he concluded the announcement.
But what are the cast up to now, you ask? Well, in honor of the anniversary, we decided to do some investigating, and they’ve certainly accomplished a lot over the last 17 years! Some went on to star in a ton of movies and TV shows, while others decided to step away from the spotlight to focus on their education or starting a family of their own! But either way, they’ve all come a long way.
