Prepare yourselves, people, because this might be the best news ever! Yep, according to Peyton Reed — the director of the first-ever Bring It On movie — a possible sequel with the original cast is something he’s “definitely been talking about recently.”

As fans know, this exciting news came just as the iconic cheerleading film celebrated its 20th anniversary. That’s right, Bring It On first premiered on August 25, 2000 and, boy, do we feel old!

“We have talked about doing a 20-years-later thing that becomes a generational cheerleader movie,” he told Insider. “Particularly with the thematics involved, I think that could be something that would be really timely. And hopefully something that would not shy away from the inherent issues of the movie.”

For fans that have questions such as, what would the movie be about? Peyton said “there are definitely ideas” in the works, but that he would love to bring back Kirsten Dunst‘s character Torrance and Gabrielle Union‘s character Isis. Aside from Kirsten and Gabrielle, the movie also launched the careers of stars like Eliza Dushku and Jesse Bradford. For those who forgot, it was all about an award winning cheerleading squad who learned their entire winning streak was a fraud after it was discovered that their routines had been stolen from a different school.

“I think there’s a great version to be done,” he added, before explaining how the flick has become such a cultural phenomenon that led to multiple sequels. “It means different things to different people.”

Peyton continued, “It may sound weird now, but 20 years ago I wanted this movie to feel like things are advancing.”

Now that the director has planted the idea of a possible reboot, the only thing left is getting the cast back together. And from the sound of it, Kirsten is totally down! In September 2019, during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the actress said, “If they wanted to make another movie, I would make another movie. Why not? It was so fun.”

OK, we’re so here for this!
