Ariana Grande is taking a break from social media again right after she seemingly addressed her split from former fiancé Pete Davidson. The songstress made a return to Twitter and Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes photos as she filmed something very near and dear to her heart, but she then shared a message letting everyone know things are sad for her at the moment, so she won’t be as active for the time being.

So here’s what went down: the 25-year-old filmed a performance for the upcoming Wicked musical special that will be airing on NBC on Oct. 29. It’s one of Ariana’s favorite musicals and while she admitted her anxiety almost forced her to bow out, she persevered and was able to do what she does best, and that is to let her voice shine.

“can’t believe i almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today !!! not today satan ! not tomorrow or the next day either not no more. [gonna] sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye,” she wrote.

And she really did look oh so fabulous sporting a glittery green lip, channeling the main character from the musical, Elphaba. She also posed for a pic with Idina Menzel (you know, the voice of Elsa from Frozen) who originally played the role Elphaba when Wicked first opened on Broadway. And Ariana was totally having a pinch me moment!

After this though, the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer took to her Instagram Story yet again in a now-deleted post, letting her fans know that while she was happy to take part in the Wicked special and to share an inside look at her day, she’s going to be taking a step back.

“ok today was v special and i’m so grateful i was able to be there,” she wrote. “time to say bye bye to the internet for just a lil bit. it’s hard not to bump news n stuff that i’m not tryna to see rn, it’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep goin. thank u for bein here always.”

While she didn’t directly reference which news exactly she wants to stay away from seeing, it’s safe to assume between the sudden death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller to the end of her romance with Pete, there are plenty of things going on in the news cycle about her life she wouldn’t want to be bombarded with at every glance. Ari has a close bond with her fans so we’re sure they’re wanting to check-in and see how she’s doing too, but she will most likely talk about it all when she wants, on her terms. As we know, she’s been back in the recording studio and if she’s channeling this all into her art, then that’s nothing short of commendable. Whenever she decides to return to social media though, her fans will no doubt be there waiting with open arms.
