Ariana Grande and Liz Gillies go way back. Everyone knows they co-starred on the Nickelodeon series Victorious together, but they actually worked together before they were cast as Cat and Jade, starring in the Broadway musical 13. So yes, they’ve known each other for years and they’re still besties to this day. But now, they just revealed they would often kiss each other right when they were about to film a scene of the show, all in the name of some makeup. We kid you not!

Spilling the tea in part two of the behind-the-scenes footage from Ariana’s “Thank U, Next” music video — which Liz had an amazing role in — we see the girls getting ready to film the Christmas-themed dance scene in the vid that pays homage to the “Jingle Bell Rock” number from Mean Girls. As they’re prepping for the scene, Ari and Liz are standing back-to-back and Liz jokes that she’s trying to get some of the glitter from their outfits onto her body. And that’s when she says, “Remember when we ran out of lip gloss and kissed on Nickelodeon?” And Ari responds, “I know! Guys, want to know a little-known fact?”

“When no one would hear us and we would be begging like ‘we need a touch-up please,’ and they would be like ‘rolling,’ we would look at whoever was glossier at the moment and to add more color, we would be like [makes kissing gesture] ‘let’s go’ and we would transfer the color. That happened,” Liz explained.

“That was really funny, I had forgot about that,” Ariana chimed in.

Can you even handle it? The poor girls just wanted to make sure their lips were properly colored and shined on camera, so they took matters into their own hands. Nothing wrong with that! The 25-year-old starlets are as close as ever, so it really was no big deal and hey, it was pretty smart of them when you think about. This isn’t the first time Ariana and Liz have given fans some insight into their kissing moments though. Let us never forget when the “God Is a Woman” songstress accidentally uploaded a vid of the girls sharing a quick peck on Instagram, which she dubbed her “favorite video of all time.”

They were just goofing around and if anything, all this proves just how strong the girls’ friendship is and always will be.
