Disney actor August Maturo is asking his fans for help! The Girl Meets World star took to Instagram on Thursday, March 12 and told fans that he was worried that his younger brother, Ocean, may have caught the coronavirus, but that his family can’t access a test to find out if he’s come down with the disease or not.
“My little brother Ocean is sick. He tested negative for Influenza A and B, so we asked for a Coronavirus test. GUESS WHAT? There are no tests, and it’s almost impossible to get one,” he wrote. “We live in Ventura County with almost 1,000,000 people here and only 77 people TOTAL have been tested. THIS MAKES ZERO SENSE! I’m not very worried about Ocean because he’s young and strong, but I’m worried about my 80 year old grandmother who lives with us! And my family members with asthma! THIS IS THE USA — WHY ARE THERE NO TESTS FOR US? Please tag California governor @gavinnewsom and your local reps and demand access to tests!”
The World Health Organization has reported that more than 125,000 people in over 40 countries have contracted coronavirus so far, resulting in more than 5,00 deaths. Medical professionals have called for “social distancing” to prevent further spreading of the illness, which is defined as “trying to keep yourself away from other people, especially large crowds.”
Because of this, many concerts, events and festivals have been called off. Miley Cyrus, Louis Tomlinson, JoJo Siwa, Billie Eilish, BTS, Ally Brooke, Niall Horan, Selena Gomez, Jeffree Star, Meg Donnelly and more are among those who have canceled their shows due to concerns over the disease. For the first time since September 11, 2001, every Disney theme park and cruise line worldwide will be shut down due to the coronavirus, plus Broadway, MLB, NBA and NHL have all been shut down.
