Growing up in the public eye! Disney Channel fans know August Maturo as Auggie Matthews on Girl Meets World, but the young star has nabbed so many roles since the show came to an end in 2017. That being said, he’ll never forget his time on the Boy Meets World spinoff series.

“My mom and Rowan [Blanchard]‘s mom are best friends, so I go over there all the time and it’s so fun to hang out with all of them again,” the former Disney Channel star told J-14 exclusively in June 2021. “We don’t really get together that often, but we do stay in touch. We don’t get together that often because COVID, and we’re all busy, but it’s always good to text them every now and then.”

The Connors star went on to say that his former costars are “family.” August added, “They’re all so amazing.”

At the time, the actor revealed to J-14 that his role in the 2021 movie Shepherd: The Story of a Jewish Dog was his “first” film role following Girl Meets World.

“It’s really cool as an actor to move on from different genres,” August shared at the time. “I’ve been doing comedy and I’ve always wanted to try different things.”

Since then, he’s nabbed a few other TV show and movie roles, including Slapface alongside Mckenna Grace.

“She got me into horror,” August told J-14 of his longtime best friend. “She started introducing more scary movies to me because she was in Annabelle Comes Home. So, we watched that together and it was amazing. Ever since, I think I just fell in love with horror.”

Thankfully, his love of horror allowed the young star to win Best Actor in Feature Film at Grimmfest Reaper Awards for his Slapface role.

“I’m so grateful to the Grimmfest Jury for selecting me as Best Actor for Slapface. I’m so honored and honestly quite shocked,” he shared at the time. “Attending Grimmfest in person this year in beautiful Manchester was a dream come true, and one of the greatest experiences of my life. And this award is truly the icing on the cake. Thank you again Grimmfest.”
