Warning: Spoilers ahead. Get ready to bring on all the nostalgia, you guys, because some of the cast members from Gossip Girl just reunited! Yep, Chace Crawford and Penn Badgley had a virtual hangout session on Tuesday, June 30, and seeing them together more than seven years after the show came to an end was seriously iconic.

But during their Zoom reunion, the guys opened up about the show’s ending, and they admitted that they weren’t big fans of the way it concluded. For those who forgot, in the final episode of the CW show, it was revealed that Penn’s character, Dan Humphrey, was Gossip Girl all along. Yep, he was running the blog that constantly updated on the lives of Serena Van Der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald, but neither of them were happy with the reveal.

“At the end of Gossip Girl the show, whatever your reaction is on whether it was smart to do that or not, that Dan is Gossip Girl — it didn’t really line up with the character of Dan. Right?” Chace said during their chat, to which Penn replied, “Yeah.”

As fans know, Penn went on to star as Joe Goldberg in the Netflix show You, and Chase couldn’t help but point out the two characters’ similarities.

“What’s interesting about Joe — it is almost like an odd continuation of Dan,” he continued.

“I’ve always tried to be both transparent and forthcoming and grateful of the way Gossip Girl positioned me to be in a role like this and for it to have the particular effect that it has,” Penn added. “Because it’s interesting that regardless of my performance, the fact that it’s simply me, just one of the main characters of the show called Gossip Girl, and I ended up being Gossip Girl — even though we can debate about whether or not that makes sense. And we can debate about whether or not Dan is even really a male lead in the show, because the heart of the show was somewhere else. But anyway, it’s me playing this guy Joe, and it makes a lot of sense in a way …  In a way, it’s almost like Dan, just with bloody hands.”

Get this, you guys — the actor even revealed that he recently rewatched the show with his wife, Domino Kirke. But Chace hasn’t taken a walk down memory lane — yet.

“I don’t like really watching myself that much in general,” he explained. “So to go back and open that time capsule, I think there would be some nostalgic value. We’re doing that when you come to L.A. We’ll have a drink.”

“Dude, if we live-tweet a viewing of any episode of Gossip Girl, people would love that,” Penn concluded.

This needs to happen, ASAP. BRB, going to watch the show on repeat now.
