Calling all Spy Kids fans — Juni Cortez is spilling all the tea! That’s right, Daryl Sabara teamed up with his wife Meghan Trainor for an Instagram Live hosted on Monday, April 20, and he shared so many epic behind-the-scenes secrets about the film series that kicked off his career back in 2001.

From the auditioning process to how Floop’s Fooglies were created and everything in between, the actor did not hold back! As it turned out, the now 27-year-old first tried out for the fan-favorite film when he was only 6, but didn’t nab the role until he was 7. According to Daryl, the director decided he was perfect for the role after hearing that he was “building a flying car” in his backyard at the time. Yep, sounds exactly like Juni! As for the Fooglies, well they were just men dressed up in suits before becoming arguably one of the most terrifying parts of the movie (both Meghan and Daryl agreed, they were scary).

Remember the ballet scene from Spy Kids 2? Well, the only reason that made it into the film was because Daryl took ballet classes from age 3 until he was 11! The filmmakers wanted to play on their actors’ strengths, so added dancing into the flick. Get this, you guys, the star even revealed that the craziest part of the entire franchise happened in the second movie.

“In the second movie we flew to Costa Rica and filmed on an active volcano, which was crazy,” Daryl dished.

Obviously, the curly-haired cutie addressed the most important question of all: Is he still in touch with his Spy Kids costars? Of course he is! Daryl said he talks to Alexa PenaVega and Matt O’Leary all the time. Meghan even said that the couple frequently sees his former costar Emily Osment at the grocery store! Here’s to hoping for a reunion in the near future!
