After a scary overdose and taking time out of the spotlight at a treatment center, Demi Lovato is back in action. But she’s also setting the record straight on any rumors that may be floating around about her friendships, specifically with her backup dancer, Dani Vitale and her former trainer, Danielle Martin.

The 26-year-old “Tell Me You Love Me” singer took to Instagram to defend her decision to no longer have Dani work for her after a fan posted a screenshot of a tweet they wrote that says, “it was completely unfair to fire Dani, she’s one of the few who really cares about Demi’s health and has been helping her for three years, she’s surrounded by people who care only about her money and she does not see it.” And that’s when Demi decided to drop some comments of her own, sharing her truth about the situation.

“You have no idea what you’re talking about. True friends don’t do interviews about you when you OD,” she wrote.

Yikes, so it looks like Demi wasn’t happy to see that Dani had spoken about Demi’s situation. But there was some initial confusion over which Dani the songstress was referring to. At first, many fans thought the “Tell Me You Love Me” singer was referring to her backup dancer since the 28-year-old found herself in the midst of a firestorm basically, when it was reported that Demi was celebrating Dani’s birthday the night before she overdosed. Some were quick to flood Dani’s social media accounts with messages blaming her for what happened and in a now-deleted Instagram post, Dani addressed the situation and asked for everyone to just stay focused on Demi’s recovery.

“I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance,” the note said. “I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time, There is too much of it in this world as it is. I know you’re all feeling lost without her at this moment in time. Remember that you have always been a community of Lovatics who LOVE. Please remember that when you take out your phones and start typing. Remember that we all love her more than we can ever put into words. Please continue to send her love during her recovery.”

But it looks like it was Danielle Martin who Demi was referring to, which she confirmed on Instagram, leaving a comment on a fan’s now-deleted post that originally was talking about Dani. “I’m not talking about Dani vitale,” Demi wrote.

As it turns out, Danielle, who was Demi’s fitness trainer, spoke about the singer after the overdose in an interview and this is something Demi wasn’t happy with, prompting her to allegedly fire Danielle.

Dani Vitale though uploaded another lengthy note in August on her Instagram account where she explained how she herself became truly sick over the allegations and stories circulating her and the role she played in Demi’s accidental overdose. Dani really seems to just want to see her friend get better and although they have been close for many years, with Dani also dancing for Nick Jonas and Joe Jonas‘ band DNCE, it looks like there’s a chance she might not be working with Demi again, at least not currently.

Demi is truly focused on her recovery and is clearly doing all she can to stay healthy.
