Live-action movies are pretty much all the rage right now, but we have to admit we were totally shook when we first found out the classic Nickelodeon cartoon Dora the Explorer would be getting the live-action treatment. That’s right! Nickelodeon is teaming up with Paramount Pictures, Paramount Players and Walden Media to bring one of your favorite animated series to life, and do you want to know the best part? The movie’s actually coming out kinda soon!

Yep! The highly anticipated Dora the Explorer adaptation will be titled Dora and the Lost City of Gold, and it’ll be released on August 2, 2019. The film will give OG Dora fans an inside look at Dora’s life outside the jungle as she tries to adapt to something even scarier — high school. But as you probably could’ve guessed, it doesn’t take long for Dora to find another wild adventure, and this one involves saving her parents and solving ancient mysteries. Wow, what else is new?

But wait, there’s more. Nickelodeon just debuted the official movie trailer at the Kids’ Choice Awards on March 23, and honestly, it looks super legit. We mean, they’ve somehow managed to take the legendary children’s cartoon and turn it into a fun and comedic movie that teenagers, and even adults would enjoy. See?

We told you it looks awesome! Between Dora’s efforts to fit in at school after living in the jungle to the hilarious jokes about raves and teenage culture, the flick is sure to be entertaining. Plus, producers have managed to keep the signature elements of Dora the Explorer we know and love, like her adventurous spirit, and of course, her good friend Boots.

If you’ve watched the trailer several times like we have, you’re probably desperate to know more about the cast. Producers have truly pulled out all the stops for this live-action remake, which will include some familiar faces, including Isabela MonerEva Longoria and Stuck in the Middle star Malachi Barton.
