The Knight Before Christmas

Prepare yourselves, guys, because Vanessa is starring in another Netflix Christmas movie this year!

According to Deadline, the new movie is called The Knight Before Christmas, and it “follows a gallant English knight who seeks out his true quest after a sorceress inadvertently sends him from the medieval era to present day. While there he soon finds himself falling for a caring high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love.”

Knights? Sorcerers? OMG… it sounds like it’s going to be epic. We mean, anything with the High School Musical cutie in it is bound to be amazing. There’s unfortunately no release date for it yet, but we can probably assume it’ll be out sometime near Christmas.

Lion King

Get excited, people, because we are only days away from Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King. Yep, the highly anticipated remake of the animated classic will premiere July 19, 2019, so make sure you mark your calendars!

With a cast as epic as this one, we know it’s not going to disappoint. The iconic remake of our favorite childhood cartoon will star Beyoncé as the voice of Nala, Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones, the OG Mufasa, as Simba’s dad once again. Plus, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will play Timone and Pumba!

Lucky for us, Disney released a trailer of the upcoming movie near the end of 2018, and boy, did it look amazing! We were wondering how they were going to bring it to life, considering the main characters are animals and all, but we cannot get over how great the graphics are. And uh, not going to lie, seeing Rafiki hold up baby Simba made us pretty dang emotional.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold

And the Disney flick isn’t the only live-action remake coming out in 2019. Drum roll please… Our favorite childhood TV show, Dora the Explorer, is also coming to life this year. That’s right, Nickelodeon is teaming up with Paramount Pictures for the exciting new flick, and it looks like it’s going to be epic.

And guess who will play Dora? Isabela Moner, who starred in the Nickelodeon series 100 Things to Do Before High School, was cast for the epic role. The movie also stars Jeffrey Wahlberg, Malachi Barton, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Danny Trejo, Benicio Del Toro, Temuera Morrison, Adriana Barraza, Pia Miller and Q’orianka Kilcher, and will come out August 2, 2019.

But what’s it about, you ask? Well, based off the trailer, it looks like Dora may be taking on her biggest adventure yet — high school! But when she and her friends get kidnapped during a school trip, things get especially wild. Ugh, can it be August already?

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 2

We all basically lost it when Netflix dropped the announcement we’ve all been waiting for — they’re making a sequel To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before! The details on the much-anticipated film have been pretty hush-hush, but we’re honestly just screaming over the fact that we’re going to get to see Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey’s love on screen again!

But things may get complicated because the first movie ended with John Ambrose, one of the other boys that Lara Jean sent a love letter to, showing up at her door, flowers in hand, ready to stir up some trouble. That, plus the fact that Lana Condor and Noah Centineo have hinted that there’s going to be a major love triangle in the sequel, pretty much confirms that the second movie will be all about what happens when John enters the picture.

And you’re not going to believe who’s been cast for the new role. It’s Jordan Fisher! You’ll probably recognize him from Liv and Maddie, Teen Beach Movie and The Secret Life of the American Teenager. There’s unfortunately no release date for the sequel yet, but filming has already wrapped. And lucky for us, the cast have shared a ton of behind-the-scenes pics.

Frozen 2

Frozen fans, this is what you’ve been waiting for! The sequel to the iconic Disney movie is hitting theaters on November 22, 2019. And get this — it will star all of the actors from the first movie! That’s right, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are all returning for their roles. It’s also been rumored that Evan Rachel Wood will be joining the cast, although we’re not sure who she’ll be playing.

And it gets even better because according to Jennifer Lee, the co-director of the first and second movie, they’ve got a song that’s going to be even more iconic than the infamous “Let It Go.”

“We have a new song that I think is an evolution,” she told Variety. “It’s its own song…Bobby [Lopez] and Kristen [Anderson-Lopez] just delivered it three weeks ago. We’ve been working with them for two years and this song just came in and I love it.”

Disney dropped the trailer for the much-anticipated sequel in February, and boy, does it look good. In the teaser, both Elsa and Anna seem to be in a lot of trouble as the ladies explore the world outside of Arendelle. It didn’t give away much, but based on how much we all loved the first one, we know Frozen 2 will not disappoint.

Airplane Mode

Did you know that Jake and Logan Paul are starring in a movie together? In case you missed it, the trailer for the upcoming comedy flick dropped at the beginning of the year, and we couldn’t stop LOLing.

Not only will the movie star our two favorite YouTubers, but it will also feature a ton of other internet personalities. Casey Neistat, Amanda Cerny, Arielle Vandenberg and vine star King Bach have all also been cast for the film.

So, what’s it going to be about? Basically, the movie follows our favorite internet stars as they fly to a social media convention in Australia. But something goes terribly wrong on the flight when a passenger refuses to put their phone on airplane mode. Dear Lord. It definitely sounds like it’s going to be hilarious.

Descendants 3

Prepare to freak out because Descendants 3 is coming this year! Disney Channel first announced that they were making the third movie last February (they even dropped a trailer), and in May 2019, they finally revealed that the third flick is hitting screens on August 2, 2019.

The movie will star all of your favorite actors — including Dove Cameron, Thomas Doherty, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, China Anne McClain, Dylan Playfair, Mitchell Hope and Anna Cathcart!

As for what will go down, Disney revealed that the Villain Kids will make their return to the Isle of the Lost to “recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep” in the third movie. But while they’re gone, the people of Auradon find themselves in grave danger, and it’s up to the Villain Kids to save everyone and bring the kingdom back to safety.

Tall Girl

We’re still recovering over the news that two of our favorite Disney girls are teaming up for a new Netflix movie this year. Yep, we’re talking about Sabrina Carpenter, who we all know and love from Girl Meets World, and Paris Berelc, who you’ll probably recognize from her role in the Disney XD shows Lab Rats and Mighty Med. They’re starring in an upcoming flick called Tall Girl, and it seriously sounds like it’s going to be epic.

According to Netflix, the movie will be about a 6-foot-3, high school student named Jodi who has never really fit in because of her height. But when another tall student enrolls at her school, not only does she learn to embrace her differences, but she also falls in love.

Besides Sabrina and Paris, the movie will also have Griffin Gluck, who was the star of the movie Middle School: The Worst Years Of My Life, and newcomer Ava Michelle will play Jodi. Although there’s no release date for the movie yet, filming has already begun. With a cast that iconic, we can hardly contain our excitement!

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish

The fifth installment to the A Cinderella Story franchise is coming out this year! And this time, it’ll star Laura Marano and Gregg Sulkin. OMG… Two of our favorite Disney stars together in one movie? It’s bound to be epic.

According to a press release, the movie is all about a girl named Kat, who dreams of becoming a famous singer and songwriter. But unfortunately, her mean stepfamily won’t let that happen. But when she meets and fall for a new guy at work named Nick, things start to look up. They haven’t dropped a release date yet, but based off the title of the movie, we assume it’ll be out around Christmastime.

Kissing Booth 2

We all pretty much lost it when Netflix announced that they were making a sequel to one of our favorite flicks — The Kissing Booth. Yep,  Joey King, Jacob Elordi, Joel Courtney and the rest of the gang are all returning for the second movie, and we couldn’t be more excited. And get this, you guys — Deadline reported that there will also be two new additions to the epic cast. According to the outlet, Legends of Tomorrow actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers and newcomer Taylor Perez will also star in The Kissing Booth 2.

And according to Netflix, here’s what will happen in the second movie: “Elle Evans just had the most romantic summer of her life with her reformed bad-boy boyfriend Noah Flynn. But now Noah is off to Harvard, and Elle heads back to high school for her senior year. She’ll have to juggle a long-distance relationship, getting into her dream college with her best friend Lee, and the complications brought on by a close friendship with a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (played by Taylor). When Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl (played by Maisie), Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and to whom her heart truly belongs.”

Oh no! It sounds like there may be trouble in paradise for our favorite couple. There’s unfortunately no release date yet, but we cannot wait to see what goes down!

The Last Summer

KJ Apa starred in a new movie this year, alongside Maia Mitchell and Tyler Posey. The Last Summer hit screens on May 3, 2019, and it did not disappoint! But what was it about, you ask? Well, the story follows a group of teens who wrestle with love and friendship during their final summer together before heading off to college.

Toy Story 4

Nine years after Toy Story 3 came out, the gang is finally back together. That’s right. Woody, Buzz, Mr. Potato Head and all the others appeared on our screens once again for the fourth installment to the epic series, Toy Story 4, which hit theaters on June 21, 2019!

As fans of the series know, the third movie ended with Andy (who was now an adult, heading off to college) passing his toys down to little Bonnie, so the fourth film focused on the toy’s epic adventures in their new home.

And get this — there’s a new character that’s introduced in the movie. Forky, who is literally just a fork with a face drawn onto it, appears in new flick, but he didn’t exactly fit in with the other toys. The cute little guy struggled with the idea that he was a toy, since, you know, he’s a plastic utensil and all, and decided to run away. And when Woody set off to get him back, they found themselves in the midst of a whole new world — a carnival!

The Dead Don’t Die

We were all super excited about Selena Gomez’s return to the big screen! She starred in a new horror flick, called The Dead Don’t Die, alongside Austin Butler and Luka Sabbat. It came out in June 2019, and if you get scared easily like us over here at J-14, you might want to brace yourselves before you see it. And that’s because the movie is all about zombies taking over their town!

Although it definitely had a ton of screams in it, it’s actually considered a horror-comedy. Phew, that means it has a ton of laughs too. The movie also starred Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Carol Kane and Tom Wait and boy, was it epic.

Aladdin

Disney’s live-action re-make of Aladdin hit theaters on May 24, 2019, and it brought us all to a whole new world.

Mena Massoud starred as the street-rat we all know and love, while Naomi Scott (you may recognize her from Lemonade Mouth and Power Rangers) played Princess Jasmine. And get this — the one and only Will Smith played the Genie. They all did an amazing job, and it was seriously a dream come true to see one of our favorite Disney cartoons come to life!

The One Direction fanfiction that we all know and love was turned into a movie this year. That’s right. After, which is based off a story written by Anna Todd, hit theaters on April 12, 2019.

The movie starred 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford‘s little sis, Josephine, and British actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin. And man, was it intense!

So what’s it about, you ask? Well, when good girl Tessa moves into her freshman dorm at college she meets a bad boy named Hardin. But despite knowing that he’s trouble, Tessa can’t help but fall for the cutie. Their romance is a rollercoaster ride of a relationship, to say the least. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you go and watch it ASAP.

Five Feet Apart

Cole Sprouse‘s new movie, Five Feet Apart, hit theaters on March 15, 2019, and you might want to bring some tissues if you go and see it.

The film, which also stars Haley Lu Richardson, focuses on two teens living with cystic fibrosis. Because of their condition, they’re forced to stay six feet apart from others so that they don’t catch any germs. But that doesn’t stop them from falling in love. Ugh, we’re already sobbing.

Kim Possible

What’s the sitch? In case you haven’t heard, Disney Channel gave us a live-action Kim Possible TV movie back in February! That’s right, after nearly two decades without some of our fave characters, Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable and Rufus, of course, are teaming up to defeat Drakken and Shego once and for all!

Starring Sadie Stanley, Sean Giambrone and Ciara Riley Wilson, the movie aired on February 15, 2019, and we honestly cannot stop watching it.

The Perfect Date

The Perfect Date hit your screens on April 12, 2019, on Netflix, and it starred three of all-time favorite actors: Noah Centineo, Camila Mendes and Laura Marano.

But what is it about, you ask? The movie focuses on Brooks (played by Noah), who creates a dating app in an attempt to raise money for college. But the app isn’t your average swipe-right/swipe-left app. Noah actually acts as stand-in boyfriend for anyone that needs him! But things get a little complicated when he ends up falling for one of the lucky ladies.

Yeah, this year is definitely going to be lit.
