In the last several months, Netflix came through with many movies that have warmed our hearts. However, none of them have been quite as heartwarming as Dumplin’, starring Jennifer Aniston, Danielle Macdonald, Dove Cameron, and the bae of all baes, Luke Benward.

If you haven’t yet seen the feel-good flick, it tells the story of Willowdean Dixon, who’s the daughter of Rosie, a former beauty pageant queen. Of course, Rosie takes the pageant very seriously, but Willowdean, well… not so much. In protest of the pageant, she and some other girls from school who also don’t fit the beauty queen stereotype decide to sign up, and we’re not going to spoil the ending, but let’s just say they really break boundaries in the pageant world. What initially was supposed to be a protest turned into a body-positive celebration of all women.

As you can tell, we really loved this movie and its message, which is why we’re absolutely desperate to know if a sequel is on the way. At this point, we’re not 100 percent sure one is coming, but that didn’t stop us from investigating. Here are all the hints that a Dumplin’ sequel might be in the works:

The books have sequels.

Did you know that Dumplin’ was originally a book? That’s right! The young adult novel of the same name came out in 2015, and do you want to know the best part? There’s a sequel! Puddin’ is author Julie Murphy‘s second book of the series, and it was released in May of last year. Sure, this doesn’t necessarily mean Netflix will be making it into a movie, but it does mean, at the very least, that there’s more to the story. We don’t know about you, but that’s good enough for us!

Luke Benward has discussed the possibility of a second movie.

We all would like to see Luke Benward reprise his role as Bo, and who knows? Maybe it’ll happen! This seems even more likely since Luke confirmed himself that a script has been written.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “I know that there is a sequel in the books. She just wrote Puddin’, and I believe the lead of that would be Maddie Baillio’s character, Millie, but I haven’t received any news that it’s actually going to production. I just know there is a template for it, but we’ll see in this next year.”

Unfortunately, this is all the evidence so far that a sequel will happen, but doesn’t it sound promising? We mean, there’s clearly more to the story and Luke said himself that a script has been written, so we guess it’s just a matter of whether Netflix will pick it up or not. Netflix, if you’re reading this, we need another Dumplin’ movie… STAT.
