Make way for Prince Ali because we’re traveling to a whole new world in Disney’s live-action version of the beloved animated classic, Aladdin. The first official look at the movie made its debut in October 2018 when Disney dropped the teaser. Now, however, they’ve released the iconic scene where Aladdin takes Jasmine on a magic carpet ride — right before “A Whole New World.” See?
Plus, it appears Disney acknowledged our plea to get Zayn Malik to record the soundtrack version of “A Whole New World,” because it just dropped. He paired up with Zhavia Ward for the song, and trust us when we say it’s beyond magical.
If you’re anything like us, there’s a lot you’re probably dying to know about the upcoming flick, and luckily, we’ve got answers — well, to some of your questions, anyway. Let’s get started, shall we?
Who’s starring in the movie?
Bringing the characters to life in the movie are Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott (from Lemonade Mouth and Power Rangers) as Jasmine and the one and only Will Smith as Genie. The 50-year-old Hollywood legend even shared a super cute cast selfie back when the actors first started production on the movie.
“We just started shooting Aladdin and I wanted to intro you guys to our new family… Mena Massoud/Aladdin, Naomi Scott/Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari/Jafar, and I’m over here gettin my Genie on. Here we go!” he wrote in the caption.
Aww! How cute do they all look together? Before they all got to work, it was speculated that the movie’s director, Guy Ritchie, along with everyone at The Walt Disney Company studios, had been on a serious hunt, having seen about 2,000 actors and actresses audition for the role of Aladdin and his leading lady Princess Jasmine before they found Mena and Naomi.

When does it come out?
Diehard fans of Aladdin won’t have to wait long at all to see the movie. Its official release date is May 24, which means we’re so close to seeing the live-action flick on the big screen. We don’t know about you, but we plan on being there opening night.
Where can I watch the trailers?
The teaser, the official trailer and even a short first look video are all available to watch on Walt Disney Studios’ YouTube Channel right now, and trust us, they’re all amazing. Already, we can tell that this might just be our favorite Disney live-action movie yet (and if you’ve seen Beauty and the Beast, you know that’s saying a lot).
If you’ve already watched the trailer, you’ve already gotten a glimpse at some of the most important elements of the movie, including the Cave of Wonders, the genie lamp, the duet of “A Whole New World,” and of course, a glimpse of some of the most vital characters. From what we can tell so far, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Jafar and Genie all seem to have been cast perfectly, and we can’t wait to see them bring these characters to life. We even got a glimpse of Iago, the sassy AF parrot who happens to be the sidekick to the movie’s main villain, Jafar.
Before this first official look arrived, the world was treated to the first movie poster and seeing the golden lamp getting ready to unleash the genie is nothing short of iconic.
Along with the trailer, though, Disney provided us with yet another poster, and we’re going to need to print these out ASAP to hang them all over our bedroom walls.
