As if we weren’t excited enough for Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin, we just found out some major news that’s got us even more hyped. You might want to brace yourselves, you guys, because it was just reported that Zayn Malik is working on a song for the new movie! WE’RE SCREAMING.
The 26-year-old singer was spotted filming a new music video in Central Park on Monday, April 15. And according to Daily Mail, the new video was for a song that will be featured in the upcoming remake of the animated classic. Wow, just when we thought we couldn’t get any more excited for the film.
This is seriously the best news ever! Now, we’re not sure if he’ll be singing a brand new song for the movie or if he’ll be covering an old classic like “One Jump Ahead” or “A Whole New World,” but either way, hearing his angelic voice on the soundtrack is going to be pretty amazing.
Wait, did we just say new songs? Yep, we did! Composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are teaming up with Alan Menken for the new soundtrack, and they revealed back in August of 2018 that there will be a ton of new tracks in the movie!
As fans know, this isn’t the first time the former One Direction member was linked to the movie. Back in January of 2018, rumors hit the web that he and Selena Gomez were teaming up for a rendition of “A Whole New World.” But Zayn quickly shut those down when he told fans we wasn’t working with the “Back To You” singer.
The movie will hit theaters on May 24, 2019, which means we’re only one month away from the new song. And you’re not going to believe how amazing the new cast is. Mena Massoud will play the street-rat we all know and love, while Naomi Scott (you may recognize her from Lemonade Mouth) will star as our favorite princess. And get this — the one and only Will Smith was cast as the Genie!
The network dropped the trailer for it last month, and boy, does it look like it’s going to be epic. We got a glimpse at all our favorite characters (including Aladdin and Jasmine, the Genie, Jafar and Iago and even Abu!), the iconic Cave of Wonders and of course, the magic carpet ride. Ugh, we seriously cannot wait to see our favorite animated movie come to life and to hear this new Zayn song!
