Get ready, people, because James Charles is getting ready to launch his own reality show, and it’s definitely something you won’t want to miss! For those who don’t know, according to Variety, the YouTube series, titled Instant Influencer, will feature six aspiring makeup artists as they show off their skills and compete for the grand prize of $50,000. It’s also been reported that fans can expect tons of special guests to make appearances on the series, including celebrities and industry veterans. Set to premiere on April 24, the 20-year-old hopes that the competition show can take his fans’ minds “off of everything going on in the world right now.”

During a recent interview with Insider, the makeup mogul expressed what it’s been like trying to launch his show and curate content amid the current coronavirus pandemic. For those who missed it, the World Health Organization has reported that over 1,300,000 people have contracted virus so far, resulting in more than 72,000 deaths. Medical professionals have called for “social distancing” to prevent further spreading of the illness, which is defined as “trying to keep yourself away from other people, especially large crowds.” Because of this many events, concerts and festivals have been canceled, including all Broadway plays and sports games. People have been asked to avoid public spaces and quarantine themselves during this time.

“I’ve just been trying my best to use the platform that I have, and use the resources that I have, to help people out and raise awareness whenever I can,” he explained. “One of the only industries that can still continue to move forward is content consumption. It’s been great to continue working and putting out content, and hopefully putting a smile on people’s faces, where it may be honestly really hard to smile.”

The YouTube star also revealed that he’s been sharing a “secret emoji” on his Instagram Stories for fans to comment on his latest Instagram post. Randomly, James will choose five commenters and send them $500 each. As fans know, he’s not the only internet star that’s been donating and giving back during these hard times. Tana Mongeau and Jeffree Star have also reached out to their followers and sent money to some who have been struggling financially.
