For those who forgot, Joey King and Jacob Elordi were the power couple back in the day. They met and fell for each other on set of The Kissing Booth, and fans were seriously living for their relationship. But when they called it quits in December 2018, everyone was pretty shook over it — especially since the former flames had to reunite to film the sequel to the Netflix movie a few months later! So was it awkward to have to play love interests, despite their rocky past? Joey just spilled all the tea on working with her ex-boyfriend on the second flick.
“It was crazy,” the actress admitted on the “Mood with Lauren Elizabeth” podcast. “It was a wild experience, but honestly, it was a really beautiful time because I learned a lot about myself and I grew as an actor, I grew as a person.”
As for having to kiss her ex-boyfriend, the 20-year-old said, “It was fine. It was good.”
“I am very much, like, a frickin’ huge fan of The Kissing Booth,” she continued. “I’m a fan of how it resonated with the world and it resonated with me. So going back and doing that and making the sacrifice, obviously, that everyone is thinking about — I’m not outwardly addressing, but what I’m kinda on the sly addressing — making those sacrifices was totally worth it.”
As fans know, both of the stars have since moved on from their relationship. Joey recently started dating producer Steven Piet. Jacob, on the other hand, is rumored to be dating former Disney actress Zendaya. The pair was spotted on a series of steamy dates. They were photographed together in Greece back in September, and in October, fans caught them out to dinner together! Before her, the actor was linked to Instagram model Cari Flowers.
