Ever since it hit screens on January 15, 2020, fans have been obsessed with Saving Zoë. For those who forgot, the Netflix movie starred both Laura and Vanessa Marano. It was about a high school student named Echo who decided to investigate her sister Zoë’s murder after finding her diary. Want to know the best part? Not only did Laura and Vanessa act in the new flick — which was based off the young adult novel written by Alyson Noël — but they also produced it!

Now, the 24-year-old Austin & Ally star has opened up exclusively to J-14 about about what it was really like working with her sister on the movie, and it turns out, it wasn’t as easy as it looked.

“Oh yeah, we’re that kind of family for sure,” she admitted when we asked her if they ever fought on set. “We are loud, opinionated, outspoken. But I think that was what made us a great team.”

“It was amazing but it was challenging because we were producing the movie too so we literally did not sleep,” she continued. “But it’s a super serious movie. It’s about a topic that I think effects a lot of young women and young people in general. I’m really proud to have been able to make that movie and I’m super excited that people can watch it on Netflix right now!”

The former Disney actress also spilled on her relationship with her former costar Ross Lynch.

“I saw Ross pretty recently, it was at Kiernan [Shipka’s] birthday party,” she dished. “I’ve seen [the whole cast of Austin & Ally] individually, but I haven’t seen everyone all together in a while. We’ve been trying so, so hard to reunite but it’s tough with everyone’s schedules.”

Laura even revealed that she’s a huge fan of Ross’ new show, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina!

“I mean, duh!” the brunette beauty told us when we asked her if she had seen it. “It’s everywhere. I follow the Netflix Instagram account and it’s always on there and it makes me literally so happy. I’m so here for it.”
