Yikes, this is getting messy! It’s over for one of YouTube’s most beloved couples, LaurDIY and Alex Wassabi — and now, another web star is inserting himself into the situation and starting drama. It all started when Deji posted a video mocking Lauren and Alex’s “we broke up…” video where they announced their split to their fans.

Lauren and Alex had been together for three whole years, and they often uploaded videos to their YouTube channels that highlighted their life together. Between their vids and #CoupleGoals-worthy pics they would post on Instagram, these two seemed like the real deal. And they totally were! But not every relationship lasts, so the pair took to YouTube to explain the breakup.

So here’s where Deji gets involved. Basically, the 21-year-old YouTuber posted a video totally mocking the whole concept of posting videos about breakups. He claimed that Lauren and Alex probably didn’t even split and that they were just doing it for views (AKA money). And it’s safe to say Alex was furious about these claims. In fact, he took to Twitter and threatened to “end” Deji if he talked about Lauren again.

“yo @deji. make all the desperate for views vids u want about me but if u even speak laurens name again I’ll end u. not a threat bruv it’s a promise. say one more thing about us & next time I see u Im knocking ur pathetic untalented a– out. stay in ur bros shadow where u belong,” Alex threatened.

Deji fired back, “Lauren finally realised what a waste of space you truely are. Lauren can now finally grow as a better person now that she’s away from you. Lauren is finally out to get some better dick haha. Lauren, Lauren…Lauren.”

Lauren chimed in, “Hey @Deji I don’t know you and/or give a flying f about your life, so keep my name and my relationship out of your mouth and pathetically desperate videos. You know NOTHING about the circumstances of the break up so move along and make some original content.”

Good news – there’s nothing but love between Lauren and Alex, despite the fact that Deji tried to stir up drama. They’re also not ruling out a reconciliation down the line – if that’s what’s meant to be.

Speaking together to their fans, the couple explained they’re taking time apart. While Laur described their relationship as the “best three years of my life,” they just realized they needed to each work on themselves.

“Basically, we just feel like we both need specific things and we’re not fully on the same page and we need to take time apart. So for us to come back better and stronger, we have to take time and focus on ourselves,” the 25-year-old said, as tears started to form in her eyes. Alex, being the cutie he is, comforted Lauren and gave her a sweet hug.

The 28-year-old – whose full name is Alex Burriss – went on to say that he doesn’t want their fans to ever lose hope of love just because the couple they have become so invested in is moving on.

“A lot of you guys think we are your couple goals, and you guys want to be like us when you get older. But we don’t want you to lose faith in love because we haven’t. Sometimes, you have to take some time apart to realize what you had,” Alex said in the video.

Lauren – whose real name is Lauren Riihimaki – went on to say that the split was “pretty out of the blue for us, it’s not like we’ve been on the rocks.” However, they both assured viewers the breakup didn’t come because anyone cheated or they want to date other people. They also don’t plan on deleting any pics or videos they have together because it’s all part of the memories they made together the last few years.

Alex made a second vid addressing the breakup on his channel, where he made it clear to fans he doesn’t want to see them choosing sides or sending hateful comments to Lauren.

“This was a mutual breakup, we had a mature conversation and we still love each other,” he said. They are real people who had a very real relationship that millions of people just happened to be invested in. So while making these videos wasn’t the easiest thing to do, both Lauren and Alex just wanted to be honest. They’re both taking a short break from posting any new content. When they return, they assured fans it’ll be business as usual, both spreading positivity in their videos.

“I’ll still love you, I think I’ll always love you,” Alex said to Lauren in their breakup vid. That itself says so much about their relationship.
