Hey #Chiam shippers, we have some amazing news for you! Liam Payne and his ex Cheryl Cole were just caught getting super cozy at an event and um, we’re freaking out. The former flames ran into each other at the Global Awards in London on Thursday, March 8, and their interaction could not have been cuter.
In a video posted by The Mirror, the One Direction heartthrob could be seen wrapping his arms around the Girls Aloud singer and giving her a big hug. And get this — he even gave her a kiss on the cheek!
“They looked very friendly. They were smiling and talking and they went in for a big hug,” an onlooker told the outlet. “Liam put his arms around her and kissed her on the cheek.”
According to The Sun, Cheryl said “Hello stranger,” to Liam when she greeted him.
“They really seemed genuinely pleased to see each other,” another onlooker told them. “It was really busy but they stood chatting for a few minutes. They were both smiling and then he gave her a kiss on the cheek and a hug before heading in different direction. It was sweet to see them getting on.”
OMG. As fans know, the couple dated for almost three years before calling it quits last July. But because they share a 23-month-old son, Bear, they’ve stayed pretty close. In January, the 35-year-old singer revealed that she and Liam even spent Christmas together.
“There’s no animosity whatsoever,” Cheryl told The Sun at the time. “In fact, Liam spent Christmas Day with us. He cooked the turkey and everything at our home. His family came on the 23rd [of December], and then he was in the house before I woke up on Christmas Day.”
Awww, how sweet is that? Not to mention that the 25-year-old “Strip That Down” crooner publicly supported his ex’s music on Twitter last November. Plus, Cheryl accidentally let it slip that she was texting the singer on air during a radio interview!
Although they’ve been spending a lot of time together, it’s pretty unlikely that they’re going to get back together. And that’s because Liam’s been linked to supermodel Naomi Campbell recently. Either way, we’re honestly just so relieved to know there’s no animosity between Liam and Cheryl.
