When a couple breaks up, there’s always the question of whether or not they will stay friends. But we are relieved to know that for Liam Payne and his ex Cheryl Cole, that’s the case! The singer took to Twitter today, Nov. 9, to show his support for his ex’s new music and it could not be cuter.

“Congratulations @CherylOfficial on your first release in four years can’t wait for everyone to hear the rest,” the 25-year-old wrote. As if Liam couldn’t get more perfect, add “supportive ex-boyfriend,” to the long list of his amazing traits.

Although Liam is out there showing love for his ex, Cheryl, 35, who dropped her much anticipated new single last night, seems like she’s still pretty upset about the breakup. She recently told Jessie Ware during her podcast that she’s officially done with dating. “That’s not happening anymore, it’s the end. I’ve got the man in my life,” she said, referring to her 1-year-old son Bear, who she shares with the “Strip That Down” singer. “I’m good.”

The couple of almost three years shocked everyone when they called it quits back in July. “Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways,” Liam wrote on Twitter at the time. “It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

Since their split, Liam has kept pretty busy. He released his first solo EP, First Timereunited with ex bandmate Louis Tomlinson when he appeared as a guest judge on The X Factor, and was even spotted kissing and holding hands with model Cairo Dwek.

With Cheryl’s fifth studio album on the way and Liam working hard on his first, we are so excited to see what comes next for both stars.
