A new W Magazine cover featuring the pair hit stands on July 25, 2019. And when the pair took to Instagram to promote the new interview, they decided to poke fun at the rumors.
“BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know s–t,” Lili wrote alongside some snaps from the steamy new photo shoot.
Cole also slammed the rumors in a post of his own. The actress then took to Twitter to clear the air.
“Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids. And news sources should try a little harder to be less vile. ‘Reliable sources’ can kiss my a–,” she wrote.
So wait, are they broken up or not? Well, their posts have us a little confused about their status, but one thing’s for sure — they’re over everyone’s speculation.
As fans know, the world was pretty shocked when Us Weekly reported that the couple had split on July 22, 2019. According to the outlet, the actors kept their distance from each other at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party in San Diego. An eyewitness told the magazine that they were rarely seen together and left the event separately. The onlooker also apparently overheard Cole star telling a friend that he and Lili had broken up.
A source close to the CW stars told People Magazine, “Their friends didn’t really expect them to last in the long-run.”
“At the end of the day, their personalities are very different and their lifestyles often clashed,” the insider added. “Things have felt super heavy in the relationship for a while, and it got to be too much. They’re both very professional though and trying to be as amicable and friendly as possible.”
E! News also reported that although they had a “very messy breakup,” Cole and Lili are “currently on much better terms.”
“It seems they could be heading back in the direction of getting together,” a source told them.
“Their relationship has always been up and down,” another insider shared with the outlet. “They split this time after an argument while on their break from filming. Cole decided to end the relationship. Now that filming is happening again, it is very likely they will mend the relationship and get back together. They spend A LOT of time together on set.”
“They have a lot of chemistry and it’s hard for them to deny that they truly care about each other,” the source added.
And when the actress seemingly threw subtle shade at her rumored ex-boyfriend, it fueled the speculation even more. The blonde beauty liked a fan’s tweet which contained a video of her totally snubbing the former Disney star, and we were pretty shook, TBH.
In the awkward clip, you could see Cole try to give Lili his microphone. She stared at the 26-year-old Suite Life of Zack and Cody star for a few seconds with a very somber look on her face, before shaking her head no.

It was definitely a tense moment, and the fact that the 22-year-old hit the like button on it has to mean something, right?
In case you forgot, the pair fell for each other on set of Riverdale. And although we’re not 100 percent sure of the exact date that their relationship started, rumors first started swirling that they were a couple after they were spotted kissing and holding hands at Comic-Con in July 2017. The lovebirds went red carpet official almost a year later. And after that, they quickly became relationship goals — posting adorable pictures together, gushing over each other on social media and supporting each other’s work.
We seriously hope this isn’t the end of our favorite couple!
