Lola Tung doesn’t need a summer to turn pretty! The actress, who stars in Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, almost always rocks her natural beauty. Keep reading to see her best no-makeup moments.
ICYMI, Lola plays Isabel “Belly” Conklin in TSITP, a teenage girl who spends every summer in Cousin’s Beach with her family. During one such summer vacation, she ends up in a love triangle between her childhood friends Conrad (Christopher Briney) and his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Season 1 premiered in June 2022, and season 2 dropped in July 2023.
A quintessential summer romance, the show is based on the book series of the same name by Jenny Han. “I think it was really cool to sort of have this blueprint while we were filming,” Lola told J-14 about creating her own version of Belly in June 2022. “I want to make the readers happy and the viewers happy but I think it’s really important to not try to exactly replicate whatever there is in the book, you know what I mean? Or try to be whatever … I tried to bring myself to the character and make it my own.”
While watching TSITP, it’s pretty clear that the makeup department behind the show wanted Lola’s natural beauty to shine.
During an interview with the show’s makeup department head, Tara Sall, the artist told POPSUGAR that they wanted to give Belly a “realistic” and “soft” makeup look. This included a lot of skincare, eye masks and of course, sunscreen (the most important step!).
Tara revealed that the show’s makeup artists use Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen on The Summer I Turned Pretty’s cast.
