You guys may want to grab some tissues before listening to Louis Tomlinson‘s new song. The One Direction member just announced that his new single, titled “Two Of Us,” is dropping on Thursday, March 7, and the lyrics are seriously heartbreaking.

“You’ll never know how much I miss you. The day that they took you, I wish it was me instead,” Louis sings in the new song, according to The Sun. “I will be the best of me, always keep you next to me, I’ll be living one life for the two of us.”
Ugh, our hearts are seriously breaking. As fans of the “Back To You” singer know, Louis unfortunately lost his mom, Johannah Deakin, to leukemia back in 2016. But Louis explained that writing the song helped him get through it.
“I just feel like, musically, I almost needed to get this song off my chest,” he explained to House Of Solo magazine about the new song. “People say writing is a part of therapy. In a way, I feel like I’d been avoiding writing this song because I knew I only had one chance to get it right. I don’t mean to be too soppy but if ‘Two Of Us’ can help just one other person who’s going through the tough time I went through, that would make me really happy.”
The 28-year-old also teased a snippet of the gorgeous piano ballad to his Twitter on Wednesday, February 26.

Louis been pretty open about how hard his mom’s tragic passing has been for him and his family.
“I have got to make her proud. It’s those things that really keep me going. It’s been a crazy 24 months and a hell of a lot to deal with for someone of my age,” the “Back To You” singer told Metro back in 2017. “Enormous tragedies affect people in different ways. I’m lucky that my mum brought me up to be pretty thick-skinned. There is never any time in my job to sit and feel sorry for myself. I always want to keep going and keep fighting. Of course, at times it is as difficult as it possibly could be… It genuinely makes me a stronger person and creatively it gives me so much depth. I think I am coping as well as I could do, to be honest.”
Everyone’s been waiting a long time for some new music from the 1D heartthrob, who hasn’t released a song since December of 2017 so we’re seriously so excited. We’re also so proud of Louis for being so strong and so honest.
