Get ready, you guys, because Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story remake just got a whole lot more interesting. Why? Because Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler has officially joined the cast!

You heard that right, people! The 16-year-old was confirmed as a cast member on April 16, and in case you’re unfamiliar with the original film and its storyline, the movie is about two gangs — the Sharks and the Jets — battling for New York City turf in the 1950s. Of course, this is made only more complicated when a member of one gang falls for the sister of a member in the other gang. Yikes!

At this point, you’re probably dying to know whether Maddie will be playing a Jet or a Shark, and luckily, we’ve got an answer for you. The dance star will be part of the Jets, and she’ll be joined by a bunch of other familiar faces to ensure that this version of the movie measures up to the original.

So who else is in the cast? We’re so glad you asked! For starters, Mike Faist, best known for his role in the Broadway production of Dear Evan Hansen, will take on the role of Riff. Riff is the leader of the Jets, and his best friend, Tony, will be played by none other than — wait for it — Ansel Elgort!

Not to spoil anything for you, but you should probably know that Ansel is going to be a central character in the movie, and that’s because he’s the one that falls in love with Maria, the sister of the Sharks’ leader. What an absolute mess!

Although you may be unfamiliar with the rest of the cast, they’re seriously just as impressive as the leads, and we have a feeling we’re going to be super impressed by their performances when the remake of the musical finally hits the big screen. We’re particular excited to see Rachel Zegler, who will star opposite Ansel as Maria. She was just one of 30,000 people to submit an audition tape, and she also viral for her cover of “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. At just 17 years old, she snagged the iconic role — and get this — it’s her first role ever. OMG.

Are you excited yet? Yeah, we thought so! But before you ask, you should know that we don’t have a release date yet. However, Deadline says filming officially begins this summer, and we seriously couldn’t be more ready.
