Get ready, you guys, because Rachel McAdams just revealed that she really wants to star in another Mean Girls movie, and we are seriously so here for this! Yep, during an Instagram Live, the actress admitted that she’s more than ready to reprise her role as Regina George for a reboot of the iconic flick, and we’re freaking out.

“It would be fun to play Regina George later in her life and see where life took her!” the 41-year-old Notebook alum said.

OMG. For those who missed it, her admission comes just days after Lindsay Lohan revealed that she was down for a new Mean Girls movie too!

“I think I was hanging on to [Mean Girls] for a really long time,” she told David Spade on his talk show Lights Out. “To work with Tina [Fey], and the whole crew again, and [director] Mark Waters. That was really what I wanted. I was excited to do that.”

But when asked if there were any plans to make a sequel, she explained that it’s “in their hands.”

For those who missed it, Mean Girls hit theaters back in 2004, and it quickly became a fan favorite! Besides Lindsay and Rachel, it also starred Amanda SeyfriedLacey ChabertJonathan BennettLizzy CaplanDaniel Franzese and more — and it will forever hold a place in fans’ hearts.

It turns out, there actually was a Mean Girls 2, which came out in January 2011. But instead of continuing the story of Cady, Regina George and the rest of the plastics, it followed a brand new group of students. It starred Meaghan MartinJennifer Stone and Maiara Walsh, and Tim Meadows (who played Principal Duvall) was the only OG star to return for the second flick.

Plus, the hilarious movie was turned into a Broadway play back in 2017, and now, they’re gearing up to turn that into a movie!

“I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen,” Tina said in a statement to Variety. “It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”

Paramount president of production Elizabeth Raposo added, “We’re thrilled to be bringing this iconic property back to the big screen in musical form with our incredible filmmaking team.”

“It has been a joy to work on Mean Girls and to watch it go from film, to musical and now to musical film,” producer Lorne Michaels told the outlet. “I am very proud that Tina’s story and characters continue to resonate with new generations.”

The cast of the Broadway play includes Erika Henningsen as Cady Heron, Cameron Dallas as Aaron Samuals, Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Krystina Alabado as Gretchen Wieners, Kate Rockwell as Karen Smith, Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, Grey Henson as Damian Hubbard, Catherine Brunell as Mrs. Heron/Ms. Norbury/Mrs. George, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor and Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall. It’s unclear if the Broadway stars will star in the movie or if they’ll hire a new cast, but either way, this is the best news ever!
