Get ready for some cuteness overload, people, because Selena Gomez just expanded her family! Yep, the singer adopted a brand new puppy, and she seriously could not be more adorable.
The 27-year-old went on Instagram Live on Tuesday, March 24 to let fans know how she was holding up during the coronavirus pandemic, and that’s when she dropped the bombshell announcement.
“Winnie is here,” she said, referring to her other dog. “I would like to introduce my new family member — Daisy! Winnie and Daisy are getting along very well. I know a few friends who are fostering right now just to give animals a safe place, but I couldn’t help it. I have to keep her, right? I got Daisy a week ago, and she’s so sweet. And Winnie is like big brother mode for sure.”
For those who missed it, the World Health Organization has reported that more than 430,000 people have contracted the coronavirus so far in more than 177 countries, resulting in 19,000 deaths. Medical professionals have called for “social distancing” to prevent further spreading of the illness, which is defined as “trying to keep yourself away from other people, especially large crowds.” Because of this many events, concerts, award shows, conventions and festivals have been canceled, including all Broadway plays and sports games. People are urged to stay indoors and isolate themselves during this time.
“I’ve been in lockdown,” the “Lose You to Love Me” songstress continued. “I have not really left — well, I have left my house just to see my sister. I hope that you guys are taking this seriously. To me, I can’t wrap my head around people not taking lives that serious. It’s not to say it’s to be hurtful toward anyone else. It’s just, it’s really hard to see ’cause I have grandparents and they’re with me. I have a six-year-old sister who can’t be in school right now so I haven’t been on this too much just for the sake of praying for you guys and honestly figuring it out for myself, trying to read and not go crazy.”
