A lot has happened in the life of Selena Gomez in the last few months. She’s gotten back together with Justin Bieber, and in the wake of it all, rumors have circulated that she’s got some serious drama going on with her family – mainly with her mother, Mandy Teefey. It was reported that the 13 Reasons Why producer was sent to the hospital after she got into a spat with her daughter about Jelena reuniting. Fans were then left scratching their heads after the “Wolves” songstress unfollowed about 300 people on Instagram and changed her default picture to one of her mother.
Well now Mandy is clearing the air with Gossip Cop and admitted that she’s not entirely thrilled about Jelena 2.0, but at the end of the day Selena is 100% in charge of her own life and the choices she makes. She said, “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy.”
The producer even spoke out about the speculation that the two haven’t been close since Selena decided to no longer have her mother as her manager. Mandy added, “Every mother and daughter has disagreements. We never expected to manage her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business. It was no longer fun for any of us, like it was when she was younger and we had to be with her because she was a minor.”
Obviously, Selena is no longer a minor, but rather an adult who is very much in charge of her life and career. Mandy continued to say, “She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed. Selena is an adult and can make her own choices.”
While Mandy might not be totally on board for Selena's rekindled relationship with the "Sorry" singer a source told [Entertainment Tonight](http://www.etonline.com/how-selena-gomez-and-her-mom-are-putting-justin-bieber-drama-behind-them-exclusive-94311?cid=trueAnthem&utmcampaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&utmcontent=5a5f1b2204d3012081e58533&utmmedium=trueAnthem&utmsource=twitter) that she probably won't do anything to mess anything up for her daughter's love life. The insider revealed, "[Mandy has] said her piece, and Selena knows how she feels about it, and that’s that. For the sake of their own relationship, they just don’t talk about it. Mandy knows that Selena is an adult and she’s going to do what she wants. Now that [her opinion of Bieber] is out in the open, there’s no need to keep dwelling on it. Her mom’s not going to do anything to try to sabotage things, and she will never give Selena an ultimatum [like] him or us."
To be honest, this is really awesome to hear – if it's true. Mandy is Selena's mom and the alleged drama between them was getting a bit out of hand. It's gotten so crazy that people are commenting on Mandy's Instagram photos about the relationship she supposedly ruined with Selena. The most absurd part is that they are commenting on a photo that has nothing to do with Selena and Mandy isn't keeping quiet about it. She posted a photo of Francia Raisa and Tommy Dorfman looked hot AF together with the caption, "@tommy.dorfman @franciaraisa … looking like rockstars tonight! XO."
I think we can all agree that has nothing to do with Selena, Justin or the rumored beef. But, that didn't stop some of Mandy's followers for calling her out. One Instagram user wrote, "Why do you continue to post…havent you done enough ereputable damage already…its going to take years of therapy to clean up the mess you made today lady… You clearly need jesus..All love." Okay, yikes. While we're not quite sure what "ereputable damage" this person is talking about, it's safe to say it has something to do with Selena.
Mandy responded back in true Mandy fashion giving zero f–ks and speaking her mind to the fullest. She said, "I appreciate your concern. Jesus is what a capital "J" for future use. It's baffling to me that everyone thinks they know me and who I am. But, like my preacher use to say "Going to church does not make you a good person, any more than standing in a garage makes you a Porsche." I continue to post because I choose to. I don't post about any drama, just like this one, people bring it into my comments that have nothing to do with what I'm posting about."
As much as we may have tried to figure out what is really going on between Mandy and Selena, this comment of hers is really telling. She's not intentionally going to put any unnecessary drama out into the world. Whether or not she approves of her daughter's relationship with Justin is a private matter. And honestly, it seems like she's over it between the Entertainment Tonight source and Mandy's own interview with Gossip Cop. Selena is her own person, old enough to make her own decisions, run under separate management and has enough money to support herself. She really can do whatever she wants without anyone's approval and that includes her mom. So, let's leave it at that. Selena and Justin are happy and if Mandy can't get that through her head then she'll have to sacrifice her relationship with Selena. And, to be honest, we can't see Mandy ever letting Selena go. So, Justin, welcome to the family. Kidding. Sort of.
