The celebs have officially returned to the ballroom! Brand new host Tyra Banks, along with the three judges — including newcomer Derek Hough — kicked off season 29 of Dancing With the Stars on Monday, September 14. Despite missing their live audience due to the coronavirus pandemic, the energy among the contestants was still high as they showed off their moves (and their professional partners) for the first time.
Following her Tango with partner Alan Bersten, Disney Channel starlet Skai Jackson took over the top spot with a score of 21 out of 30. The 18-year-old Jessie alum slayed her debut performance while dancing to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.”
“I think we nailed it!” the actress wrote on Instagram following her performance.
But, Skai wasn’t the only star who came to slay during the DWTS premiere. Former Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe and John Tucker Must Die actor Jesse Metcalfe, among others, proved that they’re ready to do whatever it takes to bring home that mirrorball trophy.
