Before landing her role in DescendantsSophia Carson struggled to find her big break just like everyone else. But after getting less than positive feedback on music she created when she first moved to Los Angeles, the actress pursued her acting career instead and even auditioned for a little show called Liv and Maddie.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, the 25-year-old spilled all the details on the rocky start to her career and the whirlwind audition process she went through when she was trying to find a role.

“It was obviously heartbreaking, but I was also auditioning, every single day,” she told the mag. “I think I probably [went] on 200 auditions in that year.” WOW.

Clearly, Sofia was really working her butt off, but it all paid off when she was called to read for a part in Descendants while she was actually auditioning for a role on Liv and Maddie.

“I walked into the room, and Kenny Ortega was there, which to me was crazy, because he’s absolutely iconic,” she recalled.

If you thought she landed the Descendants role after that audition, though, you’d be incorrect. At first, Disney actually passed on Sofia, but a month later they gave her and call and offered her the same part they originally rejected her for. Funny how things work out, isn’t it?

“There’s a certain magic to this world,” she told Cosmo. “It’s a combination of preparation —preparing as much as you physically can — passion, luck and a little bit of pixie dust, and timing.”

Well, she’s certainly right about that! After all, once she landed the role of Evie in Descendants, exciting opportunities continued coming her way. Just a week later, she landed a record deal, and these days she’s on the Pretty Little Liars spinoff, The Perfectionists.

Can you imagine if she landed the role on Liv & Maddie? We mean, just think about how different the series and the Descendants movies would’ve been!
