We all pretty much lost it when news hit the web that they’re making a High School Musical spin-off series. We mean, the Disney movies were pretty much all of our obsessions back in the day, so the fact that they’re bringing it back, over 13 years later, is seriously a dream come true!
Well guys, just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, one of the OG actors just revealed they might make an appearance in the new show. Yep, you might want to prepare yourselves because Zac Efron says he’d “absolutely” be down to make a cameo! SCREAMING.
“Absolutely, 100 percent. I don’t see why not,” he told Extra TV. “I’m not, like, committing to it — I didn’t know there was [a new series], but that’s awesome.”
OMG. Can this PLEASE happen? As fans know, the new show will air on Disney’s new streaming service — Disney+ — on November 12, 2019. It’s called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and it’s starring Andi Mack‘s Sofia Wylie, Stuck in the Middle star Joshua Bassett and Bizaardvark actress Olivia Rodrigo. Wow, talk about an epic cast.
As for the plot, instead of remaking the epic Disney Channel original movies, the story will follow a whole new group of East High students as they get ready to perform their school’s production of High School Musical. Wow, what a great idea! Plus, it’ll have a ton of new songs and a bunch of the old classics.
“I think that it’s so important,” she said. “In high school, there’s so many different types of people and everyone should be addressed. We’re all equals, everyone has a fair shot to have their story revealed and explored.”
“I think that at that time, Disney wasn’t ready for that,” the actress continued. “I personally would’ve loved that in High School Musical, and a lot of people would’ve loved that as well. But I mean, Ryan [Evans] was kind of a taste of that? It was never fully explored but I don’t know how straight Ryan was…”
Can it be November already?!
