It looks like Ed Sheeran won’t be dropping a new song for a while. On Tuesday, December 24, the 28-year-old posted on Instagram and announced to followers that he’s decided to take a break from music and social media to “go out and see some more of the world.”

“Hello all,” the singer posted. “Gonna go on another break again. The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world.”

“I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write, and read. I’ll be off social media until it’s time to come back,” he continued.

The “Shape of You” crooner also included a message to his family and friends within the post.

“To my family and friends, see ya when I see ya,” he said. Then added, “And to my fans, thank you for always being amazing, I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.”

As fans know, this announcement came just after Ed teamed up with his wife Cherry Seaborn for his “Put It All On Me” music video. He also made headlines on December 20, 2019 after he got real about his 56-pound weight loss on an episode of Behind The Medal podcast. The singer told hosts Gary Damer and Dean Smith that he decided to get healthy and start to exercise after seeing comments from internet “trolls.”

“Whenever I’ve been big, there’s always online trolls or newspapers or comments,” he said. “I think there’s definitely a lot of external pressures. You kind of get it in your head that you need to look like everyone else. I never once had any insecurities really about myself until people pointed them out.”
