There’s still a few weeks left before 5 Seconds of Summer fans get a brand new album from the guys, but the four-piece boyband — comprised of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood — just dropped a brand new single called “Old Me,” and it’s a total bop!

For those who missed it, “Old Me” was a message to the boys’ former selves. Essentially, it’s a thank you note to their younger personas and the lyrics gave fans a look into their past.

“Shout out to the old me / And everything he showed me / Glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me / No one could control me / Left my lovers lonely / Had to f**k it up before I really got to know me,” the guys sing in the new track.

On Tuesday, March 10, the group put out a music video to go along with the tune. The four-minute visual was a metaphor for Luke, Ashton, Michael and Calum’s lives and took viewers on a “train ride” through their past. The boys even got young actors to play themselves when they first started the band!

But that’s not even the best part! Blink and you’ll miss it, but one moment during the visual, 5SOS sent a major shoutout to their former tourmates and musical mentors One Direction. Fans of the band will remember that if it wasn’t for Louis Tomlinson discovering them on YouTube, the Australian boyband wouldn’t be where they are today. So, its no surprise they sent a subtle thanks to the people who helped skyrocket them to stardom.

At one point, the singers were joined on the train by five boys who, fans noticed, wore similar outfits to those that Louis, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and even Zayn Mailk wore in their “What Makes You Beautiful” music video back it the day. Naturally, some people were filled with emotion after watching this epic throwback moment.
