Get this, there could have been an epic collaboration on 5 Seconds of Summer‘s recently released album CALM, but no artist wanted to work with them. Yep, that’s right, during a recent interview, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford revealed that they had a list of possible musicians that they wanted to work with, but every single one turned them down.

“We asked many people [to collaborate], we asked many people and yeah, no, not into it, I guess,” Calum admitted on Jimmy Hill’s Capital Evening Show, with Michael adding, “I didn’t think it would be so hard — I don’t think any of us expected. As we were going into this we had our original track listing with all of these songs, we put our ideal features on every song and there were five different songs that had features. Then as we got into it we were like, they passed. And we were like ‘Okay cool, can we ask anyone else?’ And they were like, ‘Nah, no one wants to do it.'”

Ashton continued, “People get difficult about it and you just can’t be fussed. It’s like they can only be in the studio on this day or they can only do it in two weeks or they can only do it next year.”

After they told the story, Jimmy asked the boys who their ideal musical collaboration would be and Luke answered with, “Honestly, anyone.”

As fans know, the Australian boyband dropped their fourth studio album on March 27 and it’s filled with meaningful bops about their hometowns, falling in love and get this — it even gave a shoutout to their past with One Direction. The track called “Old Me” is a message to the boys’ former selves and a thank you note to their younger personas.

In the song’s music video viewers took a “train ride” through the four boys’ past and at moment during the visual, 5SOS sent a major shoutout to 1D . Fans of the band will remember that if it wasn’t for Louis Tomlinson discovering them on YouTube, the Australian boyband wouldn’t be where they are today.
