Makeup mogul Jeffree Star has, once again, found himself involved in some drama! Singer Aaron Carter just called out the YouTube star on social media for seemingly copying his merch idea. It all started after the beauty guru posted a photo to his Snapchat Story and showed off of his new mauve, orange, and nude tie-dye hoodies to fans and followers.
It seems not everyone thought that these new sweatshirts were oh-so-cute. A few days after Jeffree’s fall hoodie collection launched, Aaron expressed his issues with the clothes.
“Hey [Jeffree Star] your merch looks a lot like my custom pieces I do by hand?” the 31-year-old wrote on Twitter along with a picture of his new merchandise.
As it turned out, the “I Want Candy” singer does sell his own collection of tie-dyed sweatshirts on his website. Despite the similar look in the two designs, fans were quick to come to Jeffree’s defense clapping back at Aaron on Twitter.
“I hate to break it to you but you didn’t invent tie dye, splatter or splash ink or bleach art clothing,” one fan responded. “It’s been making a comeback for a few years now and almost everyone is selling dyed merch. The only big [difference] is you’re making yours with your own hands vs finding suppliers.”
The makeup artist has yet to respond, but some of his biggest supporters have prepared for the ultimate clap back.
“Oh [Jeffree Star] isn’t gonna play Aaron’s game,” another fan wrote on Twitter. “
That’s not all! After going back and forth with Jeffree’s fandom on the social media site, Aaron went back on his allegations and revealed that there’s no hard feelings between the two artists.
“I’m sorry but [Jeffree Star] everyone has seen me make this stuff you have two of my colors,” he wrote. “Not sure who on your team did that but I’m honored. Love you still.”
