On Tuesday, May 5, a Los Angeles judge granted Ariana Grande and her mom, Joan Grande, a restraining order against an obsessed superfan who allegedly trespassed on her property in March, as confirmed by E! News. The five-year restraining order is set to expire in May 2025, and requires the individual to stay at least 100 yards away from the pop star, her family, her homes and vehicles.
According to court documents obtained by the publication, Joan claimed that police “discovered notes in [the man’s] backpack expressing a desire and threat to murder my daughter, Ariana Grande-Butera.”
She added, “I am fearful for my safety and for my daughter’s safety,” and said that she suffered from “emotional distress” and was afraid that he would come to her home in the future.
For those who missed it, on March 14, the 20-year-old male was arrested for trespassing and battery, according to TMZ, after allegedly knocking on the door of Ariana’s home in Los Angeles and asking to see the songstress. Police also claimed that he was rummaging through the garbage.
Since the incident happened, the “Thank U, Next” singer has yet to address the situation publicly, but instead, after the arrest was made, took to Twitter and urged her millions of followers to take the current coronavirus pandemic seriously.
“I keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like ‘this isn’t a big deal’ / ‘we’ll be fine’ … ‘we still have to go about lives’ and it’s really blowing my mind,” she posted on Twitter on March 15, the day after the incident went down. “I understand if that is how [you] felt few weeks ago. But please read about what’s going on. Please don’t turn a blind eye. It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation lightly. The ‘we will be fine because we’re young’ mindset is putting people who aren’t young and/or healthy in a lot of danger. You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about others. Like now.”
