First kisses are, well, extremely awkward, and they almost never go as planned. For example, there could be too much small talk, an uncomfortably long silence, or it could just be a bad kiss. The worst part? No one is immune. We all have awkward first kiss stories, and that includes YouTube star David Dobrik.
“I had my first kiss when I was like 17 I think,” the Vlog Squad founder told J-14. “I had it pretty late, and I remember it was like really cold out and it was like a planned first kiss. Like, we texted about kissing and stuff and I was really nervous, and then we kissed.”
Doesn’t sound too bad, right? WRONG. Turns out it was a really cold night, and both David and the girl he was kissing both had runny noses. TBH, if that’s not a recipe for disaster, we don’t know what is!
“It was freezing and there was snot running down her nose, my nose, and it was just the most disgusting first kiss ever,” he recalled. “And I remember going, ‘That was really weird,’ and she was like, ‘Well, it’s not like the movies,’ and that’s all remember from that day.”
Fortunately, his romantic encounters only went up from there. How do we know? Because according to him, he’s never done an actual date prior to dating Liza Koshy or afterwards, so there wasn’t a big margin for error.
“I feel like before Liza or after Liza I’d never really done like an actual date date, so I really don’t have any super awkward encounters, but that was pretty awkward,” the YouTuber said. “… But I’m glad I got it done because I got a lot cooler.”
Honestly, we’d have to agree with that. David’s one of the coolest people on the internet, and it’s nice to know that he’s had some awkward romantic experiences too. We mean, don’t we all?
