Debby Ryan is a bonafide Disney Channel legend today but once upon a time, she was just starting out with her role as Bailey on The Suite Life on Deck when she was just about to turn 15 years old. It was a wild time for Deb, as the now 25-year-old and her mom packed up and moved to Los Angeles in order for the young actress to star on the show. But there’s one other Disney Channel queen who totally had Debby’s back and it’s none other than Miley Cyrus.
While appearing on actor Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, Debby explained how she was a fan of Miley’s career and used to listen to the Hannah Montana tunes, like many of us did. And when the girls got the chance to work together on the epic crossover event that was Wizards on Deck With Hannah Montana, Miley let be known that no one would mess with Debby while she was around.
“Hannah Montana: Meet Miley Cyrus Double Sided [CD]. Big fan, I got it from my Secret Santa in dance. I was a little old for Miley Cyrus, but I knew that was what I wanted to do,” Debby explained. “We had a crossover [episode of our shows]. She was awesome, she’s so good. She would just constantly be like ‘I don’t know, I just saw this animal that needs a home.’ She just has the biggest heart, such a capacity to love and knows who she is. And she came in and saw my friends now, [but] who at the time were just absolutely roasting me and not nice to me, she saw them doing that and literally stepped in and was like ‘Don’t talk to her like that! You don’t have to let them talk to you like that.'”
Umm okay, now how amazing is that? While Debby didn’t mention who exactly it was that was teasing her, we can’t help but wonder if it was her co-stars and still to this day best friends, Dylan and Cole Sprouse. The 26-year-old twins are constantly roasting each other on social media, so we’re sure with their sense of humor, they do this IRL too. But when you’re a young teen, it’s not always easy to deal with a roasting session, no matter how harmless it may be. But it’s nice to know there are people like Miley out there willing to step in and stand up for others. And knowing that Debby will forever think so highly of Miley is the sweetest.
