On Tuesday, December 17, YouTube star Deji uploaded a video and announced to viewers that he will be appealing a U.K. court’s decision to euthanize his dog named Tank. In July 2018, the 13-month-old German Shepherd bit two people, seriously injuring one of the victims, after he was let out by Deji’s mom, Olayinka Olatunji.

At the time of the attack a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police told Metro UK, “On 23 July [2018] we were contacted with reports that a dog had attacked two people. Officers attended the scene and the dog was seized while the matter was investigated.”

Since then, the 22-year-old internet star — and brother to YouTuber KSI — has been facing an ongoing legal battle to have the charges against Tank acquitted. He and his mom had been charged by U.K. police with “with two counts of owning a dog that was dangerously out of control, one count with injury and one without,” according to MetroUK.

In the video, Deji admitted that after going to court multiple times, he decided to plead guilty. BBC News reported that, along with being ordered to pay fines and kennel costs, Deji and Olayinka were given restraining order against the victims. Subsequently, the judge ordered for Tank to be put down.

“My reasoning for me pleading guilty is we were fighting for so long and we weren’t getting anywhere so I wanted closure and I just wanted Tank back,” he said. “It saddens me to tell you guys that Tank is going to be destroyed. It really does suck.”

The YouTuber pleaded viewers to help him get the dog’s sentence appealed by spreading the word about the situation.

“I am going to appeal regarding Tank and this is where I need you guys. I need your help. I really do,” he said. “Obviously I’m going to be appealing to save Tank’s life and I want you to just help me. I want you to tell your friends, family, anyone you know.”

Deji also apologized for the incident and said that he really just wants his dog back.

“I am very apologetic for the incident that happened regarding Tank,” he said. “Of course I am. Maybe I was a bit rash at the beginning, obviously I wanted to fight my corner, but at this point I just want Tank back.”
